Head to the Sault racecourse on Route de Saint-Trinit (D950) and park in the car park at the entrance to the site.
Yellow signposts
(S/E) With your back to the racecourse, head to the signpost at the car park entrance. Turn right onto the path that enters the forest, towards Le Défends. Pass the signpost and continue straight ahead towards Roumane. Leave the path on your left and continue straight ahead. Ignore a path on your right shortly afterwards, then head to the Roumane crossroads.
(1) Continue straight ahead towards Vallon. The road descends slightly, then becomes steeper until it joins the D942. Cross the road (take care) and turn right/left onto the path that descends a little more steeply and joins a new road. Turn left until you reach the car park at the start of the Chemin des Lavandes.
(2) At the crossroads (signposted Chemin des Lavandes), turn right onto the tarmac road. Leave a path on your right and continue along the road until you reach the Vallon signpost.

(3) Turn right and follow the path along the stream and fields. Join the tarmac road at Les Fontaines and follow the path between the buildings.
Continue to a crossroads.
(4) Turn left onto the road until you reach another crossroads (esplanade). Turn right onto the road to quickly reach the Saint-Pierre signpost.

(5) Please note that this signpost appears to have been either poorly positioned or deliberately turned a quarter turn to the west, meaning that the directions are incorrect!
Turn right at a right angle onto a dirt track. The sign points towards Sault / Vallon (July 2018), but this track leads towards Aurel.
Follow the road to the end of the field, leave the road on your right and continue straight ahead on a narrow path that climbs between two lavender fields.
Once at the top, continue straight ahead and start the descent until you reach the sign for Les Sources du Riou.
(6) Continue straight ahead towards Aurel. After 150 metres, rejoin the tarmac road and climb up to the first crossroads. Leave the road on your left and you will immediately arrive at the signpost Sous le village.
Turn right, then left, following the road that climbs towards the village. When you reach the centre of the village, turn right towards the square, leave the road completely to your right and continue straight ahead on the cobbled street that climbs uphill. A little further on, you will reach the signpost for Aurel.

(7) Turn right onto the path, which quickly becomes a trail. Follow this trail, which offers beautiful views of the village of Aurel when you look back.
(8) After 600m, the path joins a track. Continue straight ahead and immediately leave a track on your right. Continue straight ahead on this stony track, ignoring the paths branching off on either side, until you reach the Col de Mougne crossroads.
(9) Continue straight ahead towards La Rouyère in the forest. Stay on the main path and ignore all other paths. Pass the La Rouyère signpost and continue to the Roumane crossroads.
Yellow signpost
(1) Leave the path and turn left towards Le Défends, pass the signpost of the same name and continue straight ahead to reach the Hippodrome signpost. Turn left and return to the car park (S/E).
