Elva - Ussolo

The route of this hike follows the Percorso Occitano trail for the most part. On maps, particularly OpenStreetMap, it is named Percoso(i) Occitano(i) and is often abbreviated to P.O. or PO.

Signposting along the route: signposts and markings on the ground largely use the names listed above.

For ease of reading__, the abbreviation P.O. is used when the route follows the Percorso Occitano.

(S) From the Locanda San Pancrazio, follow the road northwards, following the signposting and directions for the P.O. route (shared with the CUE - Stage 02) until you reach the junction signposted Villar.

(1) Turn right, pass the Agriturismo Artesin, continue along the road after crossing two streams, to reach Chiosso Inferiore.

(2) Stay on the P.O. route until you reach Chiosso Superiore.

(3) On leaving Chiosso Superiore, after crossing the stream, take the path (P.O.) that climbs through the forest to Colle San Michele.

(4) Leave the forest and continue south on the P.O. to the hamlet of Cesani.

(5) Follow the P.O., make a 90° turn to head due west then north-west until you reach the road leading to the hamlet of Castiglione. Follow the road to Castiglione.

(6) On leaving Castiglione, head south-west along the P.O. towards Ussolo. Stay on the mountain pasture to reach the edge of the forest.

(7) Enter the forest, then leave it and head south. Turn 90° to the right to reach a crossroads.

(8) Turn right for a few metres. At the next junction, turn left to rejoin the P.O. and continue until you reach a track.

(9) Head down towards the hamlet of Vallone via the P.O. and reach a road.

(10) Head down to Ussolo, taking the path on the right.
Head towards the Church of San Stefano. Turn left to reach the Locanda La Carlita, today’s stop (S/E).
