A bucolic escape between Aire and Mametz

Park on Rue Principale in the spaces available on the pavement.

(S/E) Follow Chemin du Bietz along the Petite Lys.

(1) Ignore the path on the right and go straight on to take Chemin du Marais until you reach the bridge over the Lys.

(2) Turn left onto it and follow the route called "Le tour de la Lys". Cross the Glomenghem marsh and head for the junction at the hamlet of Les Carrières.

(3) Turn left onto Impasse des Mésanges.

(4) Turn left onto Rue du Château.

(5) Turn right onto a path, then turn right to go round Saint-Vaast Church.

(6) Head right then left into Rue des Carrières

(4) Return to Impasse des Mésanges, which you took on the way out, cross the Glomenghem marsh again, then the bridge over the Lys.

(2) Take the path on the left, reach the junction with Chemin de Fauquenthun and turn right. Follow this path, which initially runs alongside the Rincq before veering off to the left to reach the junction with Rue Deslion.

(7) Turn right to stay on Chemin de Fauquenthun and continue straight on until you reach the D196, which is called Rue Haute here.

(8) Turn left, reach the roundabout and head right to follow Rue du Bruveau (D192). Pass the start of a farm track on the left by about a hundred metres and take the path on the right towards a clump of trees sheltering a small pond. Walk alongside the pond and follow the winding path which leads to a junction a few dozen metres from the Lys.

(9) Turn right onto the path which continues as Rue de la Lys. Walk past the Marie-Jo Degrace Village Hall and rejoin Rue Principale. All that remains is to turn left and follow this road to the car park (S/E).
