To get to the starting point, head towards Raimbeaucourt. The car park is located in front of the village hall at 77 Place Clemenceau.
(S/E) Head towards the nearby church. Pass to the left of it, through the old cemetery, then continue along Rue Égalité. In front of the cemetery, turn left then right at the end of the street to take a wide farm track heading west. (Red and whiteGR® 121B markings)
(1) At the intersection, turn right towards the north-northwest. You will find yourself on the Greenway, where you may encounter bicycles. Stay on the Greenway without changing direction for 4 km.
(2) At the end of the Voie Verte, turn right onto Rue Joseph Beghin, then 50 m further on, take the small path on the left. Cross the Route de Moncheaux to enter the Phalempin National Forest.
(3) 15 metres after the barrier, turn left onto the small path that enters the woods. Please note that the paths marked on the IGN Topo map do not correspond to the actual terrain. Follow this well-marked path that runs along the edge of the woods, skirting the golf course for 900 metres.
(4) Turn right onto the single, well-marked path heading south-west, then continue to follow this single, well-marked path which leads you to a tarmac forest road.
(5) On the forest road, continue left, south-west, to the inverted Y-junction, then turn left to enter the Bois de Court Digeau forest, passing through a low barrier. Stay on this forest path for 1.4 km until you reach the Cité du Bois.
(6) On Rue Séraphin Cordier, turn left twice to enter the park at the foot of the slag heap, then head north-east to find the stairs that lead to the top of the slag heap (230 steps to climb).
(7) After admiring the 360° view from the top, carefully make your way back down.
(6) Then follow the path that branches off to the left, running alongside the houses on Rue Cordier. Cross this street and continue along the path lined with shrubs until you reach Rue des Landes. Cross this street and follow the path on the left that runs parallel to Rue des Landes until you reach Rue de l'Égalité. Turn right until you reach the roundabout.
(8) At the roundabout, turn left along the cemetery, pass the agricultural area and continue along Rue Florent Evrard to the end, staying on the left-hand pavement.
(9) At the end of Rue Florent Evrard, continue left onto the farm track, then right towards the east onto the farm track through the fields. Continue straight ahead for approximately 1.2 km.
(1) Continue straight ahead, then turn left to reach the church and the starting car park (S/E).
The description is perfect, as is the route on the map, even for the section in the Phalempin forest.
