Description of the walk

Departure from Plouaret Trégor SNCF station (car park for motorists).

(S) Leave the station or car park, cross the road and head east (right). Then take the first left, Rue Joliot Curie. At the end of the street (playground), turn right to reach Rue du Stade. Follow this street to the left for a few metres.

(1) Turn right onto the path just before the Saint-Éturien stream (GR®®34B, red and white markings). Follow the stream on your left and cross a small bridge. Walk between two streams (only one is shown on the IGN map) before crossing a private garden on the right for about 10 metres. Continue to the street.

(2) Leave theGR®® and take a sunken path on the left. Continue downhill, following a garden on your left. Go around Kergoguen by going uphill and take a grassy path on the right (Maison Ker Yvonne on the left). The path climbs and enters the woods. Join theGR®®, follow it to the left for a few metres and then leave it immediately on the left. Cross a road and reach Moulin Neuf (Milin Névez on the map).

(3) Cross the hamlet. After the last buildings, turn right onto a small path and cross the stream. After following the stream for a few metres, turn right and climb up to reach the railway line.

(4) Just before the railway line, turn left into Rue Pierre Even (follow the red and whiteGR®® signs). Shortly after the cemetery on the right beyond the railway line, turn left onto the path downhill towards the stream.

(5) Then turn right (east) and follow the stream on your left (green and yellow markings; let theGR®® cross the stream). Then cross the stream via the first bridge and you will come to a three-way junction.

(6) Then descend to the right (small gate with green and yellow markings). Follow the stream on your right. Pass a second gate and a few pine trees on your right before crossing the D74. Cross the stream via the bridge and immediately turn left onto the GR®®. Go around the Kerbiquet mill and continue to follow the stream. The path climbs slightly away from it, then descends and rejoins it. Leave Île aux Moines (picnic table) on your left and continue along the path, which climbs and then descends.

(7) At the fork, turn left, take the footbridge and look for a sign pointing towards Lannion. Begin a steep climb and follow theGR®® which leads to Prat Morvan, which you cross to the right. The small road then turns into a downhill path, then becomes a road again when you reach Le Rest.

(8) At the crossroads, turn right, cross the hamlet of Rest and continue along the path opposite, which descends to the road at Moulin de Kergueffiou.

(9) Follow theGR®® on the left towards Les 7 Saints (sign) and walk along the Léguer on your right. Turn left and move away from the Léguer (there are two parallel paths that join further on). Stay on the marked path that winds its way above the Léguer and ignore the adjacent paths.

(10) As the first path shown on the map does not exist, head west until you reach the end of the village. Just as you leave Traou Léguer, don't miss the path that branches off to the right. Continue along a small road (D74) that leads to the Kerhuellan fork.

(11) Leave the road and follow theGR®® which climbs to the right. Return to the D74, follow it to the right and cross the Léguer. After the bridge, take the first path on the left. Stay on this path, further on you will come to the right bank of the Léguer and leave it.

(12) At a fork, turn left along the Léguer. The path along the river ends at the Coz Coat property and climbs up to the right. Join theGR®® and follow it uphill to the left.

(13) Before reaching the top, turn left with theGR®® and follow a high-voltage power line. Then descend towards the D30. Follow it to the left until you reach the middle of a large bend to the right opposite the entrance to the Coz Coat property.

(14) Then follow theGR®® which branches off to the right into the woods.

(15) Back at the edge of the Léguer, facing the Moulin du Losser on the other bank, leave theGR®® and follow it on your left. The path may be collapsed in places on the bank, but it is passable. It then joins a large path coming from the right (not shown on the map), which you follow along the river.

(16) Go around a small house on the left and cross the Léguer on a footbridge. Immediately turn right onto the beautiful path that runs alongside the river and follow it until you reach the D113.

(17) Cross the Léguer again and climb up to Tonquédec Castle (which can be visited, depending on how much time you have and the train timetable).

(18) Leave the entrance to Tonquédec Castle on your left (private property) and continue along the road. After 300 m, you will see a hairpin bend on your left. Take this road and head north.
At the crossroads, turn right and continue until you reach a road. Turn left.

(19) At a place called L'Estang, turn onto the path on the left. Follow the Léguer river through the woods and turn left at the fork.

(20) At the sign, climb up to the right for about 150 m and follow theGR®® trail that branches off to the left. Follow the Léguer river and join a road. Follow it to the left until you reach Kerguignou (red house on the left).

(21) Cross the Léguer again to the left. Follow the small road uphill.

(22) Before the bend to the left, take the path on the right, just after the clearing. Enter the woods and descend towards the river, which you follow to the left. Stay as close as possible to the Léguer; the tiny path is more pleasant and offers a few small pebble beaches. Pass a pumping station on your left and take the access path that leads to a bridge.

(23) Cross the Léguer again. After the bridge, take the main path on the left. Follow this main path and ignore the road that branches off to the right. Pass under a high-voltage power line and you will immediately come to a crossroads.

(24) Continue straight ahead.

(25) Pass a skate park. Turn left, then right, and follow the campsite to reach a footbridge.

(26) Turn left and cross the Léguer river. Ignore the first road on the right leading to bungalows; instead, take the small passageway that joins the road towards Lannion (Rue Saint-Christophe); turn right. At the end of this street, turn left, cross the roundabout and you will find Lannion station on your left (S/E).

We set off at around 10 a.m. from the TER terminus in Plouaret. We followed the directions given by a hiker and took a direct route before entering the wooded area (saving 1 km).
A very beautiful hike.
The path was deserted on a beautiful August day (we only crossed paths with one other hiker). Can be done by mountain bike; almost no carrying required. The route has changed very slightly from the GPX file but there is no risk of getting lost; to stick as closely as possible to the paths, use OSM maps rather than IGN maps. Seven hours of gentle walking to Lannion station.
Highly recommended for a change from the coastal GR34.

Take the train to Lannion-Plouaret and return to Lannion-centre via this magnificent and very pleasant hike, almost 100% along the Léguer river. 25 km for 6 hours and 15 minutes of walking and 1 hour and 30 minutes of cumulative breaks.
From Plouaret station, we followed the railway line to number 5 to shorten the route slightly.
Contrary to previous reviews, all the paths were clear of vegetation and easily identifiable, with a few tall nettles over a few metres. We therefore followed the trail and not the GR34A the three times they separated. It's worth it, especially after Kerguiniou where the GR strays far from the Léguer.

A pleasant walk along the Léguer with beautiful panoramic views.
The paths are well maintained along almost the entire route, except in the commune of Pluzunet, before and after the Losser. The path is almost completely overgrown. Otherwise, it's really great.

Hello,

we just finished the missing part, but we left from Lannion to get to Tonquédec. This part is really nice, almost always along the water, in the forest. I knew the part in Lannion and before the red house, but not the part between the two. The path I used to take is on the other side of the river with detours, so you don't see the river much, but this one is great it's really very pleasant despite a heavy downpour. It's quiet even in summer. In any case, I'll do the whole thing when the weather is nice because this hike is really enjoyable.

Hello,

we just finished this hike, well, almost, because we didn't start at the beginning but a little further along towards the railway line, and we stopped at Tonquédec Castle, which is already 14 km, but we'll do the whole thing next time because it's a lovely hike i love it when you can't hear the noise of cars anymore and you feel like you're far away from everything. Following the river is also very nice, with all the plants, flowers and rocks. We even saw a kingfisher and a deer. In short, it was great it was easy to follow the route with our phones, but before Losser in the forest, we missed a fork in the path that runs along the river. We didn't see it because of the ferns, but the two paths joined up again, and we continued on our way, which was the GR with the red and white markings. It was impossible to find the path we should have taken to get there the vegetation must have grown. In any case, thanks to the map, there was no other path where we should have arrived. After the Losser, the path taken by the fishermen disappears almost completely under the vegetation. A machete would have been welcome. Apart from these two points, this hike is really good and is reserved for the motivated because it is long.
