Description of the walk

Park in the school car park on the outskirts of Pluzunet on the D30.

(S/E) Leave the car park heading south-east along the D30. When you reach the middle of a building on the left, take a path to the right (at this point, the D30 becomes the D31). Continue along this path until it joins the Route de Tregrom (D33).

(1) Take this road to the left for about 100 metres, then, at the Fork in the road, continue to the left. Take the path on the right and cross Route de Tregrom. Continue straight ahead along the path.

(2) Turn left and rejoin the D33, which you should follow to the right. After passing under a high-voltage power line, at the first houses in Lann Veur, take the path on the left. It heads due east. At the end of the path, follow the road to the left. Pass under the high-voltage power line again.

(3) In Kernévez, turn right towards Le Cosquer. When the road bends to the left, continue to the right onto a path. Follow this path.
Pass under the high-voltage power line once more, and, after 100m, take a path on the right that does not appear on maps. Cross a stream and continue to the left to reach a stony track. Follow it to the right for 50m, then, when you reach the road, turn left. Ignore a group of buildings on the right.

(4) Continue straight ahead. At Le Loc’h, cross the road and head towards the chapel, which you’ll leave on your right. This path isn’t shown on maps either, but it descends towards the River Guindy, which you cross before heading straight north up to the D30.

(5) Turn right, then, at the crossroads, turn left towards Rubeuz. Continue along this road.
Ignore a path on the right but take the one on the left before the buildings.
Continue along this path, ignoring a path on the right, then a road and a path on the left. Keep walking northwards.

(6) Circular factory loop Continue straight on. At the end of the path, turn right to reach the road. At the factory entrance, note the statue made of various materials. Follow the D93 on the hard shoulder as it descends southwards. Take the path on the right that goes round the factory and the timber and materials warehouses to reach the crossroads.

(6) Continue straight ahead. At the end of the path, just before reaching the D33, take the road on the left. Follow it to Saint-Idunet and cross the hamlet.

(7) At the chapel, take the path on the right. Join a road and turn left, heading west.
It becomes a path crossing the Guindy near Milin Coz and then becomes a road again, running alongside a sewage treatment plant on your right.

(8) Take the path on the left. When you reach the road, follow it to the right for 50m then turn right.
After the first house, climb the steps on the left to reach the starting car park (S/E).

Notes

Halfway along the route, at point (6), we suggest a circular route to explore the regional household waste treatment plant, but this can be skipped to shorten the route by almost 1.5 km. Simply turn left at the crossroads instead of continuing straight on.

We did this route in the middle of a heatwave, but it follows plenty of sunken paths where there’s plenty of shade. We didn’t suffer too much from the heat.
A walk with little elevation gain, including a crossing of the Guindy
We didn’t suggest the circular route around the waste reprocessing plant to our members; we’d tried it out and it’s not worth it: irritating air, tarmac, lorries.
Problem at point 3. Do not turn right at the first sign for ‘Le Cosquer’. The path is impassable: wire fencing, felled trees, stinging nettles, wires across the way. Clearly, the residents of the property you’re supposed to walk past don’t want anyone passing through. You must therefore continue along the road to the D33, and turn right onto a small road also heading towards ‘Le Cosquer’. There are signs for various routes (mountain biking etc.). You’ll find the path on the left near a cluster of houses.

A lovely walk through beautiful countryside, with lovely sunken lanes, two beautiful chapels, and above all, peace and quiet.:
