From Murol to Pessade

Departure from the Hôtel des Volcans (see comment in the Practical Information section).

(S/E) When leaving the hotel, head towards the castle.

(1) Walk past the car park and head towards Chautignat,^GR®30.
Pass by the Moulin de Landrode, an old grain mill renovated in stone with a slate roof.

(2) Cross Chautignat then turn left towards Grotte de Rajat. Beautiful view.

(3) Go back down and take the road on the left. The path leads to the D996.

(4) Turn left, leaving the GR^®.
Cross the crossroads and turn left onto the path going up to the right. At the end of the path, take the road on the right (300m). Take the road on the right again. At the top of the hill, take the road on the left and after 100m take the path on the left.

(5) Turn right to go around Puy d'Alou. Cross the D145.
You will arrive at the Croix du Pendu crossroads.

(6) Turn right. When you reach Saignes, cross the road. There is drinking water at the trough.
Follow the road to the forest path on the right (if forestry work is being carried out, follow the green-marked mountain bike trail).
Continue straight ahead until you reach the steep dirt track on the left. Follow the stream. When you reach Mareuge, turn left.

(7) Cross Mareuge and turn left (water point in Mareuge, fountain). At the exit, turn right.

(8) Just after the stream, turn left, follow the path and cross the stream twice. When you reach a path, turn left. Follow it until you rejoin the^GR®4.

(9) Turn left and left again at the crossroads (cross).
When you reach Pessade, cross the village to the stopover lodge (S/E).

Hôtel des Volcans: the reception was very welcoming (Nathalie and Florent, the young owners, are very friendly, the breakfast is very good and the hotel is pleasant).
No special facilities.
