(S/E) Leave the town hall square and head north along Avenue Guyonnet, which runs alongside the town hall building. Immediately turn right onto Rue du Lavoir. Leave this street by taking the first street on the left, Rue des Apprêts. The first street on the right, Rue du Vieux Chêne, will take you to a fairly conspicuous mini-market.
(1) You are now on the D519, the road to Grenoble. Turn left onto it. There is a footpath on the right-hand side of the road. Take this path. The D519 turns to the right. Shortly afterwards, leave it and continue along the footpath that branches off to the right. At the road, first turn left then right to reach the Étang du Vernatel (private).
(2) Continue along this wide gravel path, which will take you to the entrance to Sillans.
(3) You will arrive at the cemetery, which you will go around on the right. After the bend, you will see a wrought iron gate on the left. Step into the cemetery and you will see a drinking water tap on the left.
Further on, make a left-right zigzag to take Rue du Docteur Guyonnet. Follow this road until you reach a T-junction, where you turn right onto Rue Louise Michel.
(4) You will arrive at the Château de Sillans (private). Walk past it and turn right at the crossroads onto Rue Victor Prud'homme (large wooden cross at the crossroads), which will take you to the church in Sillans.
(5) Turn left, then take the first right onto Rue de Vaugauthier. Walk west along this small road, which quickly loses its tarmac surface. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead.
(6) Walk along the woods on your left and continue straight ahead to the Chanclau allotments.
(7) Just before these gardens, go down to the right between two fences to the Chanclau Pond. Cross a wooden footbridge. Walk around the pond, keeping to the right. There are educational panels explaining the flora and fauna of the pond. At the end of the path around the pond, once you have crossed a wooden footbridge over a stream, take the gravel path to the right and return to the original road, which you also take on the right. This will take you back to Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs and the Grand Rue, Octave Chenavas, in the extension. When you reach Les Halles, turn right to return to your starting point (S/E).
