The Place Rapp car park is ideal.
(S) From the car park exit, take Rue des Boulangers (on the left) via the Tour Verte passage from Rue Jean-Baptiste Fleurent. Continue to Rue Kleber, then Rue des Bains. You will reach the Tourist Office on the right via Rue d'Unterlinden.
(1) From the tourist office, go around the Unterlinden Museum, cross Rue Kleber and take the narrow Rue de l'Eau to reach Rue des Têtes. Turn left and admire the Maison des Têtes (at number 19) as you pass. Take the street on the right to pass behind the Dominican Church. At Rue des Serruriers, turn right, then left twice to reach Rue des Marchands. On this street, you will find the Bartholdi Museum and the Maison Pfister.
(2) At the Maison Pfister, turn left onto Rue Mercière to reach Place de la Collégiale Saint-Martin. Go around the square on the left and turn left again onto Rue des Serruriers to find Rue Saint-Nicolas. Turn right onto this street and continue to the Town Hall.
(3) With your back to the Town Hall, take Rue des Clefs to Rue de la Cigogne, then turn right onto Rue du Chasseur. Walk along the left side of Saint-Matthieu Church. Then turn left onto Grand'Rue and pass to the left of the stream to reach the Schwendi Fountain.
(4) Around the Schwendi Fountain is the tanners' quarter (Petite Rue des Tanneurs). Cross the bridge to pass under the old customs house and join Grand'Rue on the left. At Rue des Écoles, turn left, then left again onto Rue Saint-Jean. Turn right onto Rue des Tanneurs until you reach the fish market quay after the bridge.
(5) Turn right along the Lauch river to the bridge on Rue Turenne, cross the bridge to reach Rue Landeck, then Rue du Lycée and turn left onto Rue des Blés. On the left, walk up the pavement along Boulevard du Général Leclerc, passing the Hirn monument, and continue along Avenue Joffre to Avenue Raymond Poincaré.
(6) At the intersection of Avenue Poincaré and Avenue Joffre stands the Bartholdi monument. Cross the park, passing at the foot of the water tower, to reach Rue Schlumberger and then Place Rapp (S/E).
