Start at the Les Buclos shopping centre (car park) in Meylan.
(S/E) Take the Allée du Bret, which crosses a shaded car park, then leave it to join the cycle path on the left.
(1) Turn right onto it.
(2) At the three-way junction, turn left. (In reality, you cannot see the fourth cycle path marked on the map.) You’ll come out onto a road. Continue straight on until you reach the roundabout. Take the road on the left which goes uphill and makes a large circular curve to the right. Go over the motorway.
(3) Reach the right bank of the Isère and turn right. At the first bridge leading to the campus (reserved for pedestrians and cyclists), turn left and cross the Isère; then, at the end of the bridge, take the cycle path on the left. Follow this cycle path along the left bank of the Isère for about 2.3 km.
(4) 400 metres after crossing the N87, turn right onto another cycle path which runs alongside a sports complex (on your right) and then joins a road. Cross the railway line and head towards the centre of Gières (Place de la République).
(5) Cross diagonally to the right (heading south-west) to join Rue Victor Hugo.
(6) Cross Avenue d’Uriage, then Avenue Henri Duhamel. Take care at these two junctions as visibility is poor. Continue straight on (Rue du Repos), then, after the cemetery, veer slightly left onto Route des Maquis.
(7) Join the D112, which winds uphill to the left.
(8) You’ll reach Fort du Mûrier, where the road descends briefly before climbing again in a circular pattern, first turning to the right and then to the left. The climb continues for about 1.5 km.
(9) You’ll reach a flat stretch lasting just under 500 metres before climbing again along the road (still the D112) which passes through a wood.
(10) You’ll reach the Col des 4 Seigneurs and take the road that descends to the right (still the D112) towards Herbeys.
(11) In the village of Herbeys, ignore a road joining from the right, then, just before a fountain, take the road leading uphill to the left (Route d’Uriage).
(12) Pass through the village of Le Noyaret; the road then descends and passes through Villeneuve d’Uriage before reaching the roundabout at Uriage-les-Bains.
(13) Continue straight on towards Chamrousse (D280). 300 metres further on, take the Route du Boulloud on the right. This road climbs for just over 3 km before reaching the Saint-Martin d’Uriage roundabout.
(14) At the roundabout, turn right onto the D280.
(15) When the road curves sharply, keep left, staying on the D280. Pass through Le Rossin, Saint-Nizier and Le Penet. You will reach Le Pinet d’Uriage.
(16) Leave the D280 and take a small road that descends to the left towards Le Fau.
(17) Head down the road on the right (D280B). Pass through Rossin de Corps.
(18) At La Chênevarie (in the commune of Corps d’Uriage), take the small road on the left called “Corps d’Uriage – Traverse de Chamechaude”, which runs for about a hundred metres before reaching a T-junction. Then turn left onto the D291.
(19) After a long, pleasant descent, you’ll reach Murianette; turn right onto the D523 and continue to the first set of traffic lights at the entrance to Domène.
(20) Turn left, continuing to follow a cycle path until you reach Rue Casimir Julhiet.
(21) Turn left onto this street, continue straight on (slight descent) until you reach a roundabout.
(22) Turn right onto Avenue Aristide Bergès and you’ll come to another roundabout.
(23) Turn left and cross the bridge over the Isère. Continue for about 400 metres.
(24) Cross the D11 (take care) and turn left onto the small local road. At the first junction, turn right and follow this small road towards the motorway.
(25) At the junction, turn left and follow the motorway for a good kilometre. You’ll reach a passageway under the motorway.
(26) Take this underpass on the right, then turn left onto the Chemin de Beauséjour, followed by the Chemin de Monarie. Continue to the Avenue des 4 Chemins.
(27) Turn left and continue straight on along the cycle path. You’ll reach Chemin des Béalières.
(28) At the traffic lights, cross Avenue du Taillefer and continue along the cycle path, which veers to the left and joins Chemin Sétérées du Dessus. Ride past the retirement home and join another cycle path that runs along the right-hand side of Avenue du Vercors. Pass under Avenue du Vercors to reach the Buclos shopping centre (S/E).
