Description of the route

Start from the car park next to Rencurel Town Hall.

(S/E) Head uphill towards the Col de Romeyères and continue to the junction just past the bridge over the Doulouche.

(1) Leave the pass road and turn left onto Route des Presles, heading towards the Vallée Fossile des Rimets. You’ll reach the junction after passing the hamlet of Les Glénas.

(2) Continue straight on along Route de Presles, then onto the Route Forestière de Prélétang (marked ‘Pra l’Étang’ on the IGN map).

(3) Pass near La Balme-Riendre and reach the Col de Prélétang.

(4) At the pass, continue along the road until you reach the next junction.

(5) Leave the Prélétang Forest Road and take the hairpin bend to the right onto the Croisettes Forest Road.

(6) At Les Croisettes, continue along the tarmac road until you reach the three-way junction.

(7) Carry on downhill to the right, towards Mont Noir.

(8) Pass over the pass of the same name and follow the road down to the Col de Romeyères.

(9) Take the hairpin bend to the right and follow the D35 to the junction at the bridge over the Doulouche, which you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn left and, following the reverse route of the outward journey, head for Rencurel (S/E).
