Route from Saint-Gobrien to Guillac

A route offering beautiful green landscapes, partly near the Nantes–Brest Canal, which you follow along the GR® 37. Old chapels, churches and crosses also dot this route, which will undoubtedly give you a real change of scenery.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the boat stop.

(S/E) From the boat stop car park, cross the canal bridge towards the village of Saint-Gobrien. In the village, turn left, then left again, past the chapel.

(1) Take the Chemin des Bergots for 100 m, then turn right onto the Blancs Champs. At the top of the path, turn left onto the road and walk for over 1 km.

(2) Leave this road and take the one on the right uphill, then take thefirst dirt track on the right, which leads to the village of Saint-Servant.

(3) In front of the church, continue straight ahead through the village towards the town hall. Walk past it and continue along the Route de Lizio D151. Turn left onto Chemin des Écoliers, then left again onto Rue des Fonds Quére, which leads to Rue des Granitiers D143.

(4) Leave the village via Rue des Granitiers, turning right, for 500m. At Croix Chanu, turn right towards Ville Rézo.

(5) Cross the village and turn left onto the path leading into the woods. Turn left onto the dirt track and, at the D143 road, follow it to the right.

(6) In front of the Rougentin Calvary cross, veer left towards the village of the same name. Before another cross, continue left again towards a path.

(7) Take the path on the left, through the woods, which runs alongside Kergras Castle. Turn right onto the road at Le Lédo and continue along it for about 800 m.

(8) Leave the road at the bend and head into the woods to the left, which descends towards the Oust. Follow the Oust and cross the bridge on the left.

(9) Just after the bridge, head down towards the towpath on the left, passing the crêperie-bar. Follow the towpath for 1 km, passing the Guillac lock.

(10) After the lock, leave the towpath and follow the footpath running alongside it. Continue straight ahead to the Fontaine Saint-Bertin.

(11) Take the GR® 37 on the left (the old Josselin-Ploërmel railway line), and continue to the road leading to the Carmenais lock.

(12) Continue along the GR®37, leaving the Carmenais lock on your left. At the road, turn left to return to the boat mooring (S/E).
