Departure from Malestroit, from the car park near the bridge on the D764 road.
(S) Take the towpath (left bank of the canal) northwards. Follow it until you reach the hamlet of La Bagotaie, which you will reach by passing under the Vannes-Ploermel expressway.
(1). Just after the bridge, turn left along the expressway and join the "Voie verte" (greenway), which you take by turning right. Before reaching the towpath bridge, take the path on the right that descends towards the canal, then turn left and pass under the bridge.
Walk about ten metres and turn left again to follow theGR®347.
(2) At the junction at a place called "La Grande Haie", take the small road on the left for about 200 metres, then turn right onto a farm track that runs through the fields.
At the end of the track, turn left until you reach a place called "La Petite Haie". Then turn right onto the small road that climbs through the undergrowth towards the pretty hamlet of "Lescouët" and its small houses typical of the region.
(3) When you reach the hamlet of "Lescouët", turn left towards "La Touche Morgan", passing in front of the small chapel and its monument in memory of the Breton resistance fighters who died in the Saint-Marcel maquis.
At La Touche Morgan, follow the road to the right for 150 metres towards Le Coudray. TheGR®347then turns left onto a straight path. Head south towards the top of the hill to cross the bridge over the expressway and reach the hamlet of Rohan.
(4) Turn right.
(5) At "Trélan", cross the D10 and take the path that goes up into the woods, immediately on the left.
At the top of the hill, take the path on the right that runs alongside a fir tree plantation and leads to the "Voie verte" (greenway).
(6) Cross the greenway and follow the path to a place called "Le Verger".
(7). In the hamlet, turn right.
(8) Just before reaching the "Voie verte" again, turn left towards "Le Vaugace" and its manor house.
(9) Continue east on theGR®347until you reach a crossroads with a small calvary.
(10) At the wayside cross, turn right to return to Malestroit via Rue du Murtet.
(11) Take Rue de La Mennais on the left. Then turn left onto Boulevard Saint-Gilles, leaving theGR® which continues straight ahead. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Rue des Augustines. At the end of this street, turn right onto Faubourg Saint-Michel. At the corner of a chapel, turn left onto Chemin de l'Écluse to join the towpath. Take this on the right to return to the starting point, following the canal on its right bank (E).
