Route from Montafilan to Plélan-le-Petit

The first part of the route is very interesting, passing through the Montafilan valley (although some sections are overgrown with ferns, so it is sometimes better to go round via the adjacent fields), an old wash house and a14th-century manor house. The second part, after the Montafilan Valley, follows rather long dirt tracks before returning to the centre of Plélan-le-Petit.

Description of the walk

Park in the town hall car park.

(S/E) From the car park, take the street behind the town hall and go round the sheltered accommodation block. Immediately after, turn left towards the sports hall. Walk past the recycling bins to cross Rue des Plantations.

(1) Walk alongside the sports hall along the path on the right. Turn right after the small bridge to come out at a wash house.

(2) Enter the Vallée des Garennes via the path on the right after the wash house. Walk alongside the cemetery and take the D19 on the right for a few metres, then follow it on the left (Manoir des Fossés, continuing left on the D19).

(3) Turn left just before the conservation orchard onto the path that follows the Montafilan stream. Pass near the sewage treatment plant and take the path on the right that runs alongside its ponds. Continue along the path and then head up to the left towards Cargesnan.

(4) Before the hamlet, follow the road to the left for 500 m. Walk along the right bank of the Montafilan (caution: very grassy path).

(5) At the junction with the Route de Saint-Maudez, head up to the right along the path that goes round Ville Guée. Continue along the dirt track leading to Dalibert.

(6) Continue straight on and cross the D91 carefullyto take the dirt track lined with tall fir trees. At the cross, continue straight on again.

(7) Cross Le Hay, turn right, then right again, and join a dirt track on the left.

(8) Follow it towards the housing estates. Turn right before the estate, then left behind it.

(9) Take the path that runs between the houses, cutting across Rue de Champagne, and emerge onto Chemin de l’Étoupe.

(10) Turn left to follow Rue des Lilas and turn right into Rue du Cas des Noës to head back towards the town hall (S/E).
