Circular Tournemine along the Arguenon

A very pleasant circular route around the Arguenon with many wooded sections. The route is sometimes steep and strewn with rocks. There is a series of viewpoints over the river, some of which are magnificent.

Description of the walk

Departure from the car park just above the water sports centre

(S/E). Head towards the bridge over the Arguenon and cross it.

(1) Take the path through the woods on the left. Follow the marked trail for about 6 km, staying close to the riverbank. The trail leads to a paved road.

(2) Take this road, continue towards the bridge and cross it.

(3) Just after the bridge, take the path immediately to the left to rejoin the marked trail on the left bank. Continue following the markings.

(4) At the intersection of the paths, keep left, following the riverbank to a place called La Berthière, where the path leaves the riverbank.

(5) Cross a road and rejoin the path along the riverbank. Continue following the markings until you reach a trail intersection.

(6) Keep left, following the riverbank to the car park (S/E).

I did it in the opposite direction and combined it with the ‘Between Lakes and Forest in Pléven’ route (https://www.visorando.com/randonnee-entr...) to make a 22.5 km hike.
As a result, I didn’t do the section between points 3 and 4.

A very pleasant route with very few people about, apart from the anglers along the Arguenon.

However, it’s best suited to seasoned walkers as it’s sometimes very technical, particularly on the eastern bank where it can be quite physically demanding. I don’t know if it’s cleared before the summer season, but there were also quite a few fallen trees (particularly near point 6, where I had difficulty getting through), and overall I regretted not having brought walking poles to help me keep my balance in certain sections.
