Hello,

A very interesting route, although I did have a moment’s hesitation at the entrance to the woods, which was marked ‘private property’. I also shortened the route, as it is indeed possible to return to the starting point at the bottom of the hill by coming back down from the woods.

It’s also possible to take the path that runs alongside the village hall grounds, opposite the old vicarage. It’s nicer than the path that runs alongside the main road, which is included in the standard route. Doing this shortens the walk from 9 km to 5.5 km.

Just a quick question about crossing the woodland, which appears to be private property with signs saying ‘private property, hunting grounds’. Does the owner allow access? What happens during the hunting season?

We did this route as a group (hikers from Barentin). We altered the route at the start: we took the path running alongside the château rather than the D1314. A pretty village with a restored old vicarage and a farm with a magnificent dovecote. A lovely route with some stunning views. We had to cross a private forest; the signposting led us through it, so perhaps walkers are allowed there.

A lovely walk with stunning scenery, enjoyed in glorious sunshine
A route to do again in the spring when the flowers are out and the fields have been sown
There are several superb viewpoints. The village is pleasant.
Well signposted

Well worth doing again and again.
