Centuri walks

This loop starts in Centuri and follows the Sentier des Douaniers to Cap Grosso (semaphore) on the way out and returns via the ridges, passing by the Moulin Mattéï.

Perched at an altitude of over 500 metres, the Tower of Seneca overlooks the Col de Santa Lucia. It protected both the Pinu coastline and the coastline bordering the Luri valley on the other side of Cap Corse. To reach it, the route suggests approaching it via the ridges overlooking it to the north and returning via the village of Luri.

A superb coastal route where the path alternates between beaches and small climbs to Capandola Bay. The terrain changes completely as you now have to climb 130 metres to reach a small pass, with an exceptional view of the Finocchiarola Islands on one side and Barcaggio Bay on the other. The path runs along the cliffs, descends to the Agnello Tower and then levels out to Barcaggio. The only difficulty lies in the length of the route.

The trail starts at the northern end of the long beach of Macinaggio, covered with a thick layer of Posidonia leaves. The route, marked in yellow, follows the rugged coastline and is punctuated by two Genoese towers. Superb views of the neighbouring islands of Capraia and Elba. Some Corsican specialities, the Filles du Cap on the beach (see photos). Caution! This is an extremely fragile area with a wealth of flora and fauna.

At an altitude of 1,307 metres, Monte Stello is the second highest peak in Cap Corse. This viewpoint on the central ridge of Cap Corse offers a magnificent panorama of the east and west coasts.

The Chjassu di u Cunventu is a village loop trail that allows you to discover Farinole and its breathtaking landscapes. Starting from the Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, the route passes through the village before reaching the maquis. It runs alongside the Marianda convent, then takes a panoramic path from which you can see the marina and the Genoese tower of Farinole. Finally, the path rejoins the forest canopy before returning to the village.

Loop connecting the beautiful beaches of Lotu and Saleccia, accessible by sea shuttle from Saint-Florent. The outward journey runs along the coast, offering beautiful coastal landscapes and the opportunity to swim, while the return journey inland is quicker. A few remains of old dwellings line the path.

From Olzu beach, follow the coastal path to admire the beautiful coves and inlets. Wear sturdy footwear.

Starting from Barbaggio town hall (heading downhill), the Chjassu Napuleone crosses the village before entering a forest, where you can see old agricultural gardens on either side of the path. The richness of this route continues when you take the "imperial road" that gave the trail its name. Before becoming emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have walked this road. The trail can also be taken in the opposite direction (uphill), starting from the bridge at the intersection of Strada San Petru and Strada Napuleone. If you are only doing a one-way trip, i.e. not returning, remember to leave one car at the starting point and another at the end.

The Balcons trail, starting from the Belvédère de Barbaggio (downhill) or the RD238 (uphill), offers a nearly 10 km round trip with continuous views of the vineyards and the Conca d'Oru. It can also be taken as a one-way trip (5 km) by leaving a car at the end point and another at the starting point. Surrounded by scrubland, this trail offers remarkable views of the landscapes of the Grand Site de France Conca d'Oru, the Patrimonio vineyards, the Gulf of Saint-Florent and the limestone chain of Mont Sant'Anghjulu, whose six iconic hills are the visual signature of the area.

This hike takes you through part of the Agriates desert along the coastal path, from Saint-Florent to Loto beach, passing through picture-postcard landscapes.

From the edge of the commune of Oletta, an old mule track leads to Saint-Florent via the plain. At its end stands the Cathedral of Nebbio, waiting to be discovered or rediscovered.After a short detour through the vineyards of the Patrimonio appellation, which offers a superb view of the gulf and the beginning of Cap Corse, hikers reach the town, its citadel and its port.The quays, once dedicated to fishing boats, are now home to the largest marina on the Isle of Beauty. Once you cross the Pont Neuf bridge over the Aliso, the renovated seawall and Roya beach reveal much more accessible attractions such as fishing and swimming.The return journey is via a rural communal path lined with shepherds' huts, known as pagliaghji, built from white Saint-Florent stone.
