To reach the starting point: in the Luri valley, between Luri and the Santa Lucia Pass, take the small road signposted for Licettu (on the left coming from Luri). Park at the end of the cul-de-sac in the hamlet of Fieno. If the car park is full, drive back down to the main hamlet of Licettu. Then return to Fieno via the marked path (a few minutes' walk).
(S/E) Village of Fieno at the end of the road to Licettu. Enter the village on the right (hand-pumped fountain), following the signs for the "Chemin de la Mémoire" (Memory Trail). The rust-coloured metal signs are difficult to see in the undergrowth, but the path is almost always obvious. There are still some traces of old orange signs. Gentle climb through a deciduous forest.
(1) Follow the wooden sign for "Tour de Sénèque" on the left. From here, follow the orange or red markings. At the entrance to the hamlet of Conventu, turn left at a right angle. The slope remains moderate until the foot of the Tour de Sénèque, where it becomes steeper. The path is shaded almost all the way.
(2) Wooden sign. Continue straight ahead towards Tour de Sénèque, following the orange markings between the rocks.
Tour de Sénèque. Magnificent view, with the sea on both sides, Cap Corse to the north, Italy to the east and the Corsican mountains to the south.
Go back down to the sign.
(2), turn left (south) towards "Pinzu a Vergine" on a path that climbs along the ridge. Red markings are fairly faint. After a steep but shaded climb, you will reach a kind of bare plateau. The red markings are quite faded and there are cairns, then dense yellow markings and cairns. Follow the path for a long time along an open ridge. You will reach Monte Grofiglieta, where there is an antenna and some shade.
(3) From Monte Grofiglieta, the yellow markings become scarce. Follow the cairns and the remaining red markings carefully.
(4) You will reach a sheltered spot in the shade under some rocks. Keep to the path heading west, parallel to the ridge.
(5) Rocky area. Walk between the rocks, taking advantage of the shade. Follow the cairns carefully to reach Bocca (pass) de Pinzu a Vergine.
(6) Near the pass, there is a large isolated pyramid-shaped rock and a few menhirs, one of which is still standing. Take the red trail on the left. Descend into a shady valley and reach a small spring at the edge of the trail.
(7) Spring. Continue downhill.
(8) At a discreet crossroads, leave the red markings and take a small path that descends to the right under the trees.
You will reach a T-junction. Turn left or right depending on whether you parked in Fieno or Liccetu to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
