The hike starts at the crossroads of the town hall and the cemetery. Park along the Promenade du Ravelin or in the car park below the cemetery.
(S/E) From the crossroads, head up towards the castle via Rue de l'Hôpital. Continue up the steps until you reach the Esplanade du Château. Turn left and walk alongside the toilets.
(1) At the end of the grassy area, immediately take the dirt track on the right and walk through the woods. At the track, turn right and continue straight ahead on Chemin des Gardes until you reach the D115E, passing through Foncave and ignoring any crossroads.
(2) At the D115, turn right and, 150 m further on, turn left. At the next road, turn right twice. Pass under the Penne road (D115). At Moulin des Bordes, follow the path, marked in yellow, parallel to the Aveyron.
(3) At the junction with the bridge over the Aveyron, follow theGRP® de Midi-Quercy on the right, crossing the bridge (white and red markings). At the next crossroads, follow Rue de la Brèche on the right and climb the steps on the left of Impasse Saint-Antoine to rejoin Grande Rue. Cross the village following this street on the right.
(4) At the crossroads by the calvary, take the road on the right. You are now on the Circuit des Sept Perdrix and theGRP® de Midi-Quercy. After about 350m, turn left onto Chemin de la Timballe, which leads to Saint-Geniest and then turns right towards Moulin d'Embarre.
(5) At the wash house, cross the Ruisseau d'Embarre and turn left. Do not follow Les Sept Perdrix. Leave the dirt track on the right at the next junction. Go up the stony path to the four-way junction.
(6) Leave theGRP®, go right, then turn left twice.
(7) At the Calvary and in front of the Camis Haut, pass the wooden chicane on the right. Follow the path south to Cabéou, ignoring the crossroads.
(8) At Cabéou, pass in front of the farm and cross the stream. Follow the stream along the dirt track that starts on the left of the road. Follow it, pass Les Issarts and Montalba to arrive at the junction with Cote 174. The track curves to the right and crosses the Cabéou stream again.
(9) At the wash house, climb up the stony path on the left towards Joanny. The path ends in a dirt track near the road. At the road, turn right.
(10) Leave the track and take the dirt track on the right. Follow the yellow markings, passing the Calvaire de Roudolle, the ruins of La Vignasse and a fountain. Keep heading south-west towards the Aveyron.
(11) At the junction with the path that climbs directly from the Cabéou farm, turn left.
(12) Picnic table overlooking the valley and view of Bruniquel.
(13) At the junction with theGR®46, continue downhill towards the Aveyron. Follow the white and redGR®46signs. Cross the Aveyron, follow the D115 to the left for about 50m and turn right onto the D1E. Take the first right and continue to the entrance to the lower part of Bruniquel (rest area and car park).
(14) Leave theGR®46and follow the yellow signs to the right to go back up to the village. Turn left into the street and return to the car park (S/E)
