Park on the side of the D964, on the right-hand side of the road coming from Castelnau-de-Montmiral, or on the left-hand side coming from Bruniquel.
No signposts
(S/E) Head towards the end of the car park and take the small path on the right, which first runs alongside a field and then enters a sparse wood with oak, boxwood and hazel trees. Shortly after passing the ruins of a mill on your right with two millstones lying on the ground, you will come to a fork (not shown on the IGN map).
(1) Continue to the right, cross the Ruisseau de Beudes ford (slippery and difficult to cross when wet) and, a hundred metres further on, cross another much smaller stream which is a tributary of the previous one. Immediately after, leave a wide, steeply ascending track on your right and continue straight ahead to the junction with theGR®46.
GR® White and Red markings
(2) Turn left onto theGR® and continue to the next junction, marked by a wooden signpost.
(3) Turn left, following the signs for Bruniquel, and cross the Ruisseau de Beudes again. The slope becomes much steeper, then flattens out before reaching a large open space. Ignore all the paths on the left and right and continue on theGR® trail, which curves to the right and heads north.
(4) At the corner of a meadow, turn left downhill. On the flat section that follows, some beautiful conifers mingle with deciduous trees to create a pretty scene. TheGR® then begins the descent to the hamlet of Brian de Vère with a steep slope where the numerous stones rolling underfoot require caution. In the hamlet, just after the last house, turn left at the cross to join the D964.

(5) Cross the road with extreme caution as it is busy and visibility is poor on the left. Take the wide path opposite, walk for about 100 metres then turn right to cross the Vère on a concrete footbridge. At the next crossroads, turn right and follow the stream to a small tarmac road at a place called Belbèze.
(6) Follow the road to the left until you reach a hairpin bend and leave it for a fairly wide path that starts on the right. You will soon come to a fork (not shown on the IGN map).
(7) Leave the wide path on your right and continue on the left on a much narrower but well-marked trail. Follow this path, which climbs steadily and takes a sharp left turn before arriving on the plateau. Enjoy the various views of the Vère valley. When you start the descent, join a wider path coming from the right, follow it, turning left, and you will come to an intersection (hunting blind).
(8) Turn right. Once you reach the Nouals buildings, turn right for about 20 metres, then turn left. Follow the wide grassy path that runs alongside farmland and vineyards on the plateau. Once you reach the small tarmac road, follow it to the left until you reach another road.
(9) Leave the tarmac and take the first path on the left downhill, which leads to a ford on the Vère.
(10) Depending on the water level, cross the ford using the small rocks placed there for this purpose (be careful not to slip). However, if the level of the Vère does not allow you to cross, refer to the alternative route described in the "Practical information" section. Continue to the D964.
(11) Turn right and follow the road without crossing it. Stay on the right-hand side, which is the only side with a grass verge that is passable. Once you reach the houses, take advantage of the good visibility to the left and right to cross carefully and take the paved pavement opposite, which leads safely to the car park at the start (S/E).
