Description of the walk

Park on the right after the motorway bridge on Route de Servolex.

(S/E) Set off along the path to the north, below the road (marked by a sign warning of the risk of flooding). Follow this path for about 900 m; it leads into the marshy area.

(1) Take the path on the left, heading due west, which runs alongside a small canal on your left; after a bend to the right, it crosses a small wooded area before joining the Chemin de la Fontaine. Follow it to the right until you reach a junction of paths near a stream (Nant de la Combe).

(2) Take the wide path that climbs to the left and follow it straight ahead. It narrows and crosses the Bois des Côtes, overlooking the Ruisseau de la Combe.

(3) Turn right to cross over and join a track which you should follow. Ignore the paths to the left and, further on to the right, keeping straight ahead, you’ll reach the D14 and, a few metres further on, the Route de Montarlet, which branches off to the right.

(4) Follow the Route de Montarlet to the right, leaving the Chemin de Beauvoir on your right, and continue to the left, heading due north, until you reach the right-hand bend in the road.

(5) Leave the road and head along the path straight ahead; after about 200 m, you’ll reach a junction.

(6) Turn right onto a path through the meadows, keep straight on, and join a small road at thefirst houses in Montarlet.

(7) After a right-hand bend followed by a left-hand bend, you’ll come out onto the Montarlet road; carry straight on and, after about thirty metres, turn onto the path that descends to the right, cutting across the bend in the road.

(8) Turn right, then right again at the next three-way junction. Some 60 metres further on, at a three-way junction marked by a wooden cross on your right, leave the Chemin de la Fontaine on your right and continue left along the Route de Montarlet until the next junction.

(9) Leave the road and take the grassy, then stony, path opposite, which runs alongside the houses on your right. It continues after crossing the road again and rejoins it at a hairpin bend. Follow the hairpin bend to the right and head down the road to the bridge over the Nant des Marais (Ruisseau des Marais).

(10) Take the path on the right alongside the stream and head due south to a car park and the Pré Maquis track near the A41.

(11) Turn right onto this track and return to the starting point (S/E).

Wetlands with mosquitoes. The entire lower section of the route is quite noisy due to the motorway and the Bourget-du-Lac road.
