Park below the church of Bissy (in Chambéry).
Yellow markings and directional signs.

(S/F) Heading north to the intersection, turn left into the Chemin de Chamoux, up to point (1) ignoring the streets on both sides that serve residences.

(1) Turn left and continue up the Chemin de Chamoux.

(2) Pass by Avenue de Chatillon on the right and continue on for about 80 m, then turn right (3) at Chemin des Hauts de Chamoux. A little path leads to a junction, continue on past. 40 m further on, this time take a dirt road to the left (4).

Follow the path and join the wide stony path to Coirat. Turn left and head south-south-east on this road for a kilometre.

At the intersection (altitude level 411), turn left on a small rise, followed by a short descent leading to the hamlet of Chalou or Chaloz. After the first houses, turn left.

(5) Leave this hamlet by taking a narrow immediately to the left. It passes through a portion of forest and leads to a road, Chemin des Grandes Aules, to be followed by starting on the right. At the next intersection, turn right again to find an intersection 150 m further on. Find Rue de la Bataillarde which heads downhill at a steep 23%, back to the car park (S/F).

The Mont Grêle lookout point and Archelle’s summit.
Mont Grêle is a peak that is visible from the valley of Chambéry and the Aiguebelette region.
It is easily spotted thanks to or because of the pylons that are installed at the top. Up close, these towers have still look great, but they do not alone justify the purpose of the tour, which is interesting because it offers views over Lake Aiguebelette and Chartreuse.
