(S) From the car park, continue along the road towards the mountain (Route de la Roche) then take the first road on the right.
Follow this road and, at the next crossroads, turn left. Shortly afterwards, leave the road and climb up the path that runs alongside the Varon stream.
Make a short detour to the right towards the waterfall, then continue climbing up the path. You will come out onto the road below the village of La Roche-Saint-Alban. Turn right and follow the road uphill.
(1) At the next crossroads, turn right again, go straight ahead and, after leaving the village, turn left.
Continue climbing, leaving a path leading to houses on your right, and continue to the next intersection at the edge of the forest.
(2) Leave the path on the right to enter the forest and follow a long track south-southeast, ignoring all the paths on the left and right. At the car park known as Le Garde, the track ends up overlooking the hamlet of Barbizet.
(3) After a left-hand bend, rejoin the road and descend to a large intersection in the hamlet.
(4) Turn right, take the left fork and descend along the road until you reach a crossroads with a cross.
(5) Turn left onto the path, pass a path on the right and then on the left, and rejoin the road.
(6) Continue straight ahead, then turn right at the first intersection to return to the starting point.
. A chance to enjoy beautiful views of Nivolet-le Revard, Lake Bourget, the Chambéry basin, the snow-capped Belledonnes mountain range, Granier... And the Varon waterfall at the start of the route
