The walk starts from the small square by the church. Parking spaces available.
(S/E) Walk past the town hall, then turn left towards the castle. Walk past the village’s old wash house and the gourmet restaurant “Le JFK”. You’ll arrive on Route de Palinges.
(1) At the top of the castle, turn right: be careful, as there is heavy traffic on this road. Continue for about 500 m until you reach the crossroads at a place called La Tuilerie.
(2) Turn right towards Clessy. Continue for about 500 m.
(3) As the road begins to curve slightly to the right, leave the road and turn left towards “Le Carterand”. Turn left immediately to enter the woods via a well-maintained path. Reach the edge of the woods and emerge onto the Route de Fontenaille.
(4) Turn right and continue for about 1 km.
(5) Take the Route du Carterand on the right. Walk past a farm with long-horned goats. Continue along the road, keeping the Carterand National Forest on your left. Reach the Croix du Mauvais Pas crossroads, located about fifty metres past the first junction.
(6) Continue left towards the Bois de la Fuette (signposted), keeping the Carterand forest on your left. You will reach the junction with the Route de Clessy.
(7) Turn left and continue to the Étang Noir, home to giant carp.
(8) Turn right towards Rue d’Encredey and continue straight on until you reach the farm at No. 1083.
(9) Take the dirt track on the right. The path leads downhill and runs alongside a farm on the left. Go straight on at the next junction, staying on the path, which narrows further down.
(10) Cross a small stream, which can be crossed most of the year via a stone-paved path. Continue straight on and head uphill to the junction with a wider path.
(11) Turn right and continue for about 1 km along the edge of Bois Messard.
(12) When you reach the corner of the woods, go straight on to join Route du Grand Pâquier: you can now see the castle in the distance. Turn left.
(13) Head straight on at the Taillis junction and continue to the church car park (S/E).
