Doulevant-le-Château circular loop

A walk steeped in history, as we pass through Doulevant-le-Château, where Napoleon stayed on two occasions. We also pass through Villiers-aux-Chênes, home to an ancient Merovingian cemetery, and finally through Dommartin-le-Saint-Père, where you can visit the Foundry Museum.

Description of the walk

Parking: Place André Burgeat, in the mini-market car park.

(S/E) Leave the square by turning left onto Rue Basse, then turn right at the second junction (Côte du Docteur Lacour) and head towards Saint-Louvent Church.

(1) Turn left onto Rue de l'Église, then take the first turn left then right to join Chemin du Vigneux, which climbs up to the plateau.

(2) Once at the top, leave the path on your right and head straight on along the edge of the woods. Continue to the junction with a cross-path.

(3) Turn right and follow the path to Villiers-aux-Chênes.

(4) At the water tower, turn right for 150 m then follow the D60 to the left as it crosses the village. Continue to the junction with the D229.

(5) Take the path between the two roads that runs alongside a pigsty. Continue to the four-way junction at Côte Pinte.

(6) Turn right and enter the Forêt de la Pissotte.

(7) Cross the D229 carefully and continue straight on through the forest until you reach the edge.

(8) Continue left along the grassy path and join the small Route de Sommevoire, following it to the right until you reach the village of Dommartin-le-Saint-Père.

(9) Turn right and walk alongside the D60 for about 200 m. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, then take a grassy path leading to the wash house.

(10) Once at the wash house, turn left to cross the bridge, then turn right onto the path that runs alongside the cycle path, follows the route of an old railway line and eventually joins it.

(11) Follow it to the bridge, passing close to the recycling centre. Join the D2 (Rue de la Gare) and turn right to cross the main branch of the Blaise (mill).

(12) Turn right into Rue des Tilleux, pass the school complex and emerge onto Rue Basse. Then head left to return to the mini-market car park (S/E).
