By car, drive to the centre of Aveize, head towards Sainte-Foy-l'Argentière and park on the right in the large car park behind the church.
(S/E) Return to the car park entrance and turn right (north) onto the lane running parallel to the D4 road towards Sainte-Foy-l'Argentière. Continue along the road, pass the cemetery and, at the end of the bend, leave the road and take a path downhill alongside a shed. After 450 m, ignore a path on the right and turn left to join the D4.
(1) Follow it for 150 m to the right, then leave it and take the Grand But cul-de-sac on the left. Continue along a path, cross the D4 and continue straight ahead. At the fork, at an altitude of 625 m, leave the path straight ahead and continue to the left until you reach a crossroads.
(2) At the Le Trouillard sign, take the small road on the left towards Le Sapey. Ignore the dirt tracks and you will come to the D4 at a place called Chenevière. Go up the D4 on the left, go through a right-hand bend and, at the next left-hand bend, you will come to a fork.
(3) At the Sapey sign, go down Impasse des Sapins on the right towards La Goutte. Cross a small stream and go down the path on the right. Follow a stream and, via Impasse du Flachon, reach a crossroads. Cross the D61 road diagonally to follow Chemin du Bourdat opposite. At the entrance to the village of L'Argentière, you will reach an intersection at the edge of the Ruisseau du Bourdat (elevation 473).
(4). At the La Goutte sign, turn right onto Rue de la Goutte, following the signs for Rue des Étangs. At the crossroads, take Rue des Étangs opposite and join a road.
(5) At the Rue des Étangs sign, take Chemin du Noisetier on the right towards Le Rossignol. After 500 m, turn left onto the D633.
(6) Cross the bridge over La Brévenne and continue straight ahead to a roundabout. Carefully cross the busy D389 (pedestrian crossing) and, opposite, stay on the D663 towards Souzy. After 600 m, you will reach a crossroads.
(7) At the Rossignol sign, turn left towards Le Micaud via Chemin de la Diligence. After 500 m, ignore a path on the right, cross the footbridge over the Charavet and further up you will come to a small street. Turn right and, at the end, go around a building on the left. Immediately, leave a path on the right and continue straight ahead to a crossroads. Follow the path opposite to reach an intersection (elevation 469).
(8) At the Le Micaud sign, follow the sign for La Menue on the right. After a right-hand bend and a short climb past a ruined farm, you will come to an intersection (elevation 511).
(9) At the La Menue sign, climb towards La Bonnetière on the left. After 400 m, ignore a path on the right and immediately take the small road ascending to the right, Chemin de Brûlevent. In a wide circular loop, ignore a path on the left and arrive at an intersection (elevation 573).
(10) At the La Bonnetière sign, follow Chemin de la Bonnetière on the left towards Le Combon. Ignore Chemin du Bois on the right and immediately opposite the farm, turn onto Chemin du Bois de Duerne descending to the right. Cross Le Combon and climb the opposite slope. Further on, pass in front of the Bancel farm and join a crossroads.
(11) At the Combron sign, take the Chemin du Combron to the left towards Le Bravarel du Bas. In the right-hand bend, leave the path on the left to reach a crossroads (elevation 574).
(12) At the Le Bravarel du Bas sign, cross the D637 and climb straight ahead towards Le Bravarel. In the right-hand bend, ignore the path on the left. At the top, in front of the Bravarel farm, keep left on Chemin du Peton. After 400 m, you will reach a fork (elevation 618).
(13) At the Le Bravarel sign, head towards Le Haut du Séchaten opposite. After about 600 m, ignore the path on the right leading to a farm and descend to the D71. Take it on the left to reach a crossroads (elevation 576) (Croix de Trève).
(14) At the Haut du Séchat sign, follow the signs for Les Brosses opposite, following the road along a footpath. Take this path again and, at the fork, take the path ascending to the right to reach a crossroads.
(15) At the Les Brosses sign, turn left towards Les Roches. Immediately cross the D71 (elevation 593). Go down the path opposite and you will come to Rue des Roches. Take it to the left and you will arrive at Rue Félix Faure. Turn left, then 20 metres later, turn right onto Chemin du Bas to reach a crossroads.
(16) At the Les Roches sign, turn right towards Meys, Le Bourg via Chemin du Lavoir. Pass an old wash house and arrive at Chemin de la Scierie. Follow it to the right for 40 metres before turning left onto Chemin des Horts. At the intersection above, climb straight ahead on the small Rue des Œufs to reach the D71, Rue de la République.
(17) At the Meys, le Bourg sign, take this street on the left towards Monspire. At the fork in the bend, stay on the D71 on the left and ignore two streets on the left. At the first fork, keep right and at the second fork, keep left, following the sign for La Buissonne, then at the third fork, keep left again. Ignore the side roads.
(18) At the intersection in front of the La Gagère farm, turn left. Cross the D71 (elevation 494) and continue straight ahead on the path slightly to the right to reach an intersection.
(19) At the Monspire sign, follow the sign for Le Choron on the right. Immediately cross the D389 carefully and continue straight ahead on Chemin de Monspire. Cross the footbridge over the Brévenne and further up join Route du Sorlin.
(20) At the Le Choron sign, turn left towards Les Eymains. After 200 m, climb a path on the right along the wall of a farm. Ignore the side paths and continue to an intersection located in the middle of a farm. Keep left on Chemin de la Côte de Malval, then turn right at the fork and arrive on the D61 (elevation 656).
(21) At the Les Eymains sign, take the road on the right towards Grézieu-le Marché, Le Bourg to reach a crossroads in the village.
(22) At the sign for Grézieu-le Marché, Le Bourg, choose the destination Champesan via Route de la Forge on the left. At the fork 120 m further on, take Chemin de la Combette on the left. Ignore the side roads and continue to an intersection flanked by a sign indicating the Champesan orientation table.
(23) At the Champesan sign, continue straight on towards Bois de la Dame. After a short descent, you will come to a crossroads.
(24) At the Bois de la Dame sign on the left, follow the signs for Les Brosses. Cross the D61 and, on the right, go down the street opposite that runs parallel to it. At the intersection, turn left to reach a three-way fork.
(25) At the Les Brosses sign, go down Chemin de la Chaudanne on the right towards Soutange. At the intersection, turn right onto Chemin de la Micholletière, then at the fork, turn left onto Chemin de la Brochetière. When you reach a ruin, continue straight ahead on a dirt track. Cross the Ruisseau Goutte Reynard stream and you will come to Chemin du Soutange.
(26) At the Soutange sign, climb to the right towards Altitude 485. At the fork, leave the road on the right that leads to the Soutange farm and continue on the left until you reach an intersection.
(27) At the Altitude 485 sign, follow the sign for Le Noisetier 479 opposite. Cross a stream and join Impasse du Noisetier. Follow it straight ahead to reach Chemin du Noisetier. Follow it 30 m to the right, ignoring the red/yellow cross on an electrical box, and you will reach an intersection.
(28) At the Noisetier 479 sign, leave Rue vers l'Argentière and climb the path on the right marked Les Esparcieux. Continue along Impasse des Guillermières and join the D61. Immediately descend the path on the right, cross a small stream and then climb back up towards the D61. Cross it diagonally and continue climbing opposite to reach Chemin des Esparcieux.
(29) At the Esparcieux sign, follow the path to the left towards Bas de Huras until you reach an intersection in a right-hand bend.
(30) At the Bas de Huras sign, leave the road and take the Chemin des Pavés opposite. Climb through the woods, ignoring the side paths, and join a road, the Chemin du Glas. Follow it for 20 metres to the left to reach an intersection (elevation 723).
(31) At the Chemin des Pavés sign, continue along the small road on the right towards Croix Michel. Ignore the side roads and you will reach an intersection with a road going in the opposite direction on the left, 50 m before the intersection with a street.
(32) At the Croix Michel sign, follow the signs for Aveize. Place de l'Église opposite, join Rue de la Croix Michel. Turn left towards the town centre, following it along a pedestrian path. Ignore the side dead ends and head for Place de l'Église.
(33) At the Aveize sign. Place de l'Église, go to the car park behind the church (S/E).
