Description of the walk

In the village of Duerne, at the only junction where four roads meet, head towards La Chapelle-sur-Coise until you reach the speed bump in front of the bus stop, then turn immediately right onto Chemin du Cimetière. Park in the car park next to the cemetery.

(S/E) Start the walk by taking the Montée de Fourvière (the road on the other side of the cemetery) uphill. After about a hundred metres, you’ll leave the tarmac behind for a good hour’s brisk walk. Stay on this path, ignoring the three turnings on your left and the four on your right. On this path, you’ll see a memorial stone.

(1) Carry on until you reach a crossroads with several directions.

(2) Take the path on the right and head uphill to reach the highest point, where you’ll find an orientation board.

(3) Enter a wooded area, then begin the descent along a stony path. Turn left at the next crossroads, stay in the woods and head for the crossroads in the hamlet of La Courtine.

(4) Continue for a few metres to the left of the woodland to reach a crossroads marked by a cross near a pond.

(5) Turn left and head back up the path to return to the multi-way junction you passed on the way there.

(2): Follow the path back in the opposite direction to the car park next to the cemetery (S/E).

A short walk with little to offer apart from the view of the Pilat and an orientation board; best avoided in hot weather

A very enjoyable walk, which was exactly as described: lovely views all along the route, a pleasant two-hour stroll. It was exactly what we were looking for that day!
