Circular loop starting from Suzan

Car parks around the Church/Chapel of Saint John the Baptist.
Partially signposted route

(S/E) Leave the car park via the small access road, heading north-east, cross the Ruisseau de Capez and turn right onto a wide track (private road – access permitted) until you reach the Airial de Moucicq. Go round it on the left.

(1) Turn right onto a path and continue to the end. Turn right twice, then left in front of a fence and carry on until you reach a wide track.
Leave the signposted route.

(2) Turn left onto this track, cross the Ruisseau le Suzan (Pont des Barres) and continue for about 300 m until you reach the first path on the right.

(3) Turn right and follow this path closely until you reach the high-voltage power line.

(4) Keep to the left beneath the line, go round the pylon and head right until you reach a crossroads.

(5) Take the track on the right, then turn left and, in a wide bend, leave this broad track.

(6) Take the path on the left, cross the Ruisseau le Suzan, head up towards the Fontaine Saint-Jacques and continue to the right towards the oratory.

(7) From this small square, head to the right (against the direction of the signposts), keep to the left and continue for a long way, heading due north. When you reach the buildings (Matic), turn right towards the car park (S/E).

On St Michael’s Day, the starting point is likely to be swamped with bargain hunters.

Exposed route: make sure you bring water and a hat.

Several points of interest: the Saint-Jean Fountain, the Saint-Giron Fountain (off the route) and the Saint-Jacques Fountain.
