Béziers walks

Walk on the outskirts of Béziers between nature and the city. Visit some of the city's remarkable points of interest. Always follow the water, in the shade if you choose the protected bank, passing through the locks (+ 2 footbridges) or along the Orb. The route is very easy as it mainly follows footpaths, with short sections shared with cars (be careful), and is accessible to children. It takes just over an hour at a brisk pace, or two hours at a leisurely pace.

This route starts at the nine locks of Fonseranes and takes you on a journey of discovery through the riches of Béziers, along the Canal du Midi and the Orb river.

A walk exploring the other side of the scenery, behind the beaches of Portiragnes. Along the Canal du Midi, meet the barges and discover the dedicated port on the edge of the marshes. A winter stopover for migratory birds, from the top of the small dunes, overlooking the beach. Walk along the dykes surrounded by salt marshes.

Nissan-lez-Enserune, its mills, its Parazols bridge, located on the Roman road, then on the royal road. Walk in a site offering a vast panorama, stretching from the mountains (Caroux, Montagne Noire) to the Mediterranean Sea.

The route is dotted with several tower pigeon lofts, one of the special features of Murviel-lès-Béziers.

A tranquil hike graded moderate for the distance and altitude gain. Most of the hike is on tarmac roads. Some nice views along all of the route, especially at the water tower where you can see Capestang, the lake and further away, Narbonne and the Pyrenean mountain range. Also Béziers, Puisserguier and further away, the Haut-Languedoc hills.

A lovely walk through vineyards, heath and pine forests, with no difficulty other than the length. Beautiful views of the Caroux Massif, known as the reclining woman, Espinouse, Canigou and the sea on a clear day.

Short loop in the Montagne de la Clape with a visit to the listed site of L'Œil Doux and the Domaine Municipal de l'Oustalet. This is the equestrian centre of the town of Fleury with a mini farm and an eco-museum.

"Lo qu'o bist Alignan-del-ben, toudo la bido sen souben" , which means in Occitan "those who have seen Alignan-du-Vent will remember it for the rest of their lives". This route winds through the heart of the Alignan-du-Vent vineyards, skirting around vineyards and vines. A stroll starting the Coursan community hall between the Aude River and Pech-Céleyran. Lovely views of the plains, the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees, from the peak. Passing by the Moulin du Pech mill.

This circular route around Tourbes is not particularly difficult and offers varied landscapes, mostly in the undergrowth. Take care when crossing the D39. The entire hike is marked in yellow. The beautiful village of Tourbes is well worth a visit.

An easy circular route around Margon, with several views of the beautiful 17th-century château. Pleasant in winter to enjoy an unobstructed view of the vineyard. This circular route includes many tarmac roads. The entire route is marked in blue.

Sometimes calm, sometimes tumultuous, discover the Orb on this walk. Many international canoe/kayak competitions take place in the Réals basin. A basin with a reputation for being highly technical.

Hike in the mountains of La Clape overlooking the Pyrenees, the Black Mountain and the Mediterranean. See the “Rossignol” (nightingale) mill of Armissan, and then enjoy views at the orientation table at Vinassan, and finally Marmorières Domaine’s chapel’s dovecot.
