Description of the route

Depart from the car park at Montblanc town hall.

(1) Head towards the school and turn right opposite it. You will soon reach Avenue Édouard Herriot on your left. Follow this road, then continue along Rue Marcel Cerdant, leave the town and you will arrive in front of a vineyard.

(2) Turn right onto Rue de la Gardiole and continue to the next intersection.

(3) Turn left and then immediately right onto the dirt road. Continue on the paved road until you reach a crossroad at a water pumping station.

(4) Continue right (Chemin des Romains), pass the Croix Demi-Lieue on your right, then take the dirt road on the left. At the road (D18E2), continue straight ahead and reach the next crossroads with a tree on the side.

(5) Take the dirt road on the left and continue straight ahead until you reach an inverted Y-junction.

(6) Turn right, then quickly left, join the motorway and follow it, keeping to the left, until you reach the bridge on the right.

(7) Go under the bridge and turn right onto the small road. At the next intersection, turn left onto the dirt road and continue straight ahead. Go under the road bridge and you will reach a roundabout.

(8) Take thethird exit (Chemin des Ânes). Continue straight ahead, go under the railway bridge and at the traffic lights, go straight ahead and take thefirst street on the right, opposite No. 50.

(9) Take this road (Rue Magenta), at the end, turn left (Rue Sébastopol) then, at the next crossroads, turn right onto Boulevard de la Fraternité. Continue along Boulevard Lafayette and at the end of this road you will come to a four-way crossroads with a wayside cross on your right.

(10) Turn right onto Chemin de l'Allée, leave Bessan and reach a crossroad at the Guinguette leisure centre.

(11) Continue right and at the roundabout, go straight ahead towards Vias, D137, and take thefirst left.

(12) Take this small road on the left, then thefirst path on the left. After about 100 metres, at the corner of the vineyard, turn left and after about 200 metres, turn right. You will reach a road.

(13) Follow this road until you reach a crossroad.

(14) Turn right then left to follow the road, facing the farm entrance on your right, and reach Agde at the Écluse du Bassin Rond.

(15) Cross the bridge over the Canal du Midi, then take thefirst road on the left. Cross the bridge near the lock and turn right immediately. Pass under the railway line and reach the fork in the access road to Château Laurens.

(16) After enjoying the site and perhaps taking a look around, return to the previous fork and continue straight ahead on the footbridge. Turn left, cross the bridge over the Hérault (Pont des Maréchaux) and head towards the riverbank.

(17) Follow the riverbank on your left and, at the end, go around the Moulin des Évêques building on the left, then take the Chemin de la Vallée just behind it, towards Parking Centre Historique. Continue along the small path along the Hérault river until you reach the next lock.

(18) Cross the canal and continue to the right until you reach an inverted Y-junction. Turn sharply to the left.

(19) At the three-way junction, turn and stay on this road.

(20) At Domaine Marianne, turn left, then continue on the road on the right and join the banks of the Hérault.

(21) Turn left and follow the D28 which runs alongside the Hérault river until you reach the bridge over the Hérault.

(22) Arrive in Bessan. Go around the large car park on the right and continue straight ahead on Boulevard Jean Moulin, rejoining the route you took earlier at Rue Magenta on the left.

(9) Continue straight ahead and follow the same route as on the way there until you reach the town hall of Montblanc (S/E).
