This hike starts at Beynes station. You can get there by train or by car, in which case there is a small car park available.
(S/E) Walk down Avenue de la Gare towards the ruins of Beynes Castle. Continue to the crossroads, then take the D191 on the right towards Marcq, then Rue du Bois at the next crossroads.
(1) A little further on, take Rue de la Couperie, which climbs to the right towards Prise des Anglais.
A little further on, turn right again onto Rue des Cailloux. Then follow the path straight ahead.
(2) At one point, the path branches off to the left and takes you onto a small road. At the crossroads on the left is the Hameau de la Couperie.
(3) Turn right towards the gas installation (a fenced enclosure that is an underground gas reserve). This area is called Carcassonne, but there are no ramparts in sight.
(4) At the gas installation, turn right and continue straight on to the village of Montainville. Walk down to the church. To get there, you will pass in front of the Auberge de Montainville.
(5) Take Rue du Pressoir, then turn left just after the church and left again into Rue du Fort to discover the charms of this little village. Then, instead of going down to the right towards Mareil-sur-Mauldre, continue straight on along Chemin de la Serpe, a small street that becomes a path.
Stay on the plateau and do not take the path that zigzags downhill.
(6) Then take the first path on the right. Continue straight ahead. Cross three paths and take the fourth on the right, just before the groves.
(7) This will keep you on the plateau until you descend towards Maule, passing close to a ruined house.
Shortly afterwards, turn left. Towards the bottom of the descent, you will see the Maule cemetery on your right.
(8) Take the small path that leads to it, then continue down the street alongside the cemetery.
(9) Turn right onto Boulevard Saint-Jacques, then left onto Rue de Mareil, which will take you to Rue d'Orléans. Continue to Boulevard Paul Barré (traffic lights).
(10) Turn right. This will take you to Maule station, a little further on your left (S/E).
