Park in the large car park just after the sign at the entrance to the village.
(S/E) Begin the hike by crossing the village of La Bolline via Rue du Pont, which continues into Rue Centrale. After passing the Chapel of Sainte-Croix des Pénitents Blancs (17th century) and the fountain on Place de Casetto (1857), continue to a fork in the road.
(1) Take the left fork, which passes in front of a small restaurant and a bar-tobacconist's, and continue to the main road. Cross diagonally to reach marker 139.
(2) Follow the signs for Vallon de Bramafan. The path descends towards this valley.
(3) At the bottom of the valley, follow the well-marked path, which has been rebuilt following Storm Alex. Climb back up through the forest to the road, marker 138. Continue left towards Saint-Dalmas. Continue along the little-used road, which slopes gently downwards. At the bridge, continue along the same road on the left for about 200 metres until you find a path on the right.
(4) Take this path and head towards the village of La Roche. Cross the bridge over the Vallon de Sainte-Catherine and continue for a few metres.
(5) Turn right onto the one-way street and cross the village, passing a fountain and a boules court on your right, as well as the Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs de l'Annonciation chapel. The path continues straight ahead, passing a children's playground and the Church of Saint-Jean on your left.
(6) At marker 142, take the left fork towards the old border until you reach the information panel about the old border.
(7) Ford the river (due to the destruction of the wooden bridge by Storm Alex). Climb down the rocks to find the easiest passage over the large rocks and climb up the other side to marker 144. Continue along a little-used road downhill towards the village of La Bolline and join the car park at the entrance to the village (S/E).
