Description of the walk

Start at the car park in the village of Rimplas near the church.

(S/E) Take the paved stairway that climbs north of the village - marker 157a.

(1) Turn right and arrive at the Serre road in a bend, continue along this road to the end at a transformer.

(2) The trail starts to the right of the transformer. Begin a fairly steep climb heading north and you will reach two ruined chalets - marker 158a.

(3) At the marker, stay on the path on the right and continue north, passing marker 158, going over a reservoir and arriving at marker 159.

(4) Leave the Rimplas cattle trail on your left. Follow the direction of Rouagne. Walk east on a rocky path lined with thorny bushes for about 1.1 km. Enter a more pleasant area of undergrowth and reach a Y-shaped intersection. Please note that there are no signs or yellow markings.

(5) See the practical information for this point. At this fork, take the path on the right and gradually begin the descent. After a few switchbacks, you will arrive at a small plateau facing some rocks.

(6) Do not go to the rocks but turn left immediately to go around them. Continue the descent to marker 152. Head towards a ruined building and a sign indicating La Bolline.

(7) Follow this pleasant path to reach marker 151 at the entrance to the village of La Bolline.

(8) At the crossroads, leave the main road and turn left onto Rue du Pont, to the right of the bus stop. Cross the village via Rue Centrale. At Café Edhy, turn right and cross the main road at marker 147. Heading south, take Chemin Saint-Macaire to rejoin the GR®52A at marker 148.

(9) Continue west towards Rimplas. On the GR®52A, follow the fairly steep descent, guided by markers 149 and 150, to reach a bridge over the Vallon Gros torrent.

(10) After the bridge, the path climbs again to Rimplas. Stay on the GR®52A, pass marker 155 and come out onto the M2565 at a hairpin bend. Take this road carefully uphill on the right for about 200 m until you reach marker 154.

(11) At the right-hand bend, take the path opposite, which continues to climb, pass markers 153a and then 153, and reach the entrance to Rimplas and the car park (S/E).

Notes

(5) As you approach this point, remain vigilant until you reach the intersection. There are two paths with no signs or yellow markings. Furthermore, the map is not clear enough to help you.
- On the IGN map, the route is incorrect; the trail shown about 50 metres before, which branches off to the right in a series of hairpin bends, does not exist. The actual trail is not shown.
- On the OSM map, the path you need to take is correctly marked and accurate, but the path on the left is not shown. There is no fork on the map.
Therefore, it is preferable to use the OSM map to follow the route on this part of the itinerary.
Note: This waypoint was added during the hike.

The view is superb all along the climb, it's a really beautiful hike.
Point 5 is still tricky to find, especially as the terrain is quite rough. We wouldn't have found the path without GPS. Add to that the fact that the few yellow markings are more than faded, and we lost our way several times on the descent.
At point 7, there are two possible choices. The description suggests passing in front of the ruined buildings and continuing on. You can also follow the sign for La Bolline. In both cases, you arrive at point 8. We took the second option without meaning to, as we had read the description too quickly.

A very beautiful hike with lovely views and variety along the route. The fork at point 5 is not easy to see. To find it after the long climb from Rimplas, look for a flat area and an old stone shepherd's shelter on the left. The path downhill is 30 metres to the right. The path is well marked with yellow markings. You will find yourself on a flat area with a few rocks. Go to the left and find the path that descends to La Bolline. Nothing difficult. On the descent below the village of La Bolline, go to the magnificent chapel, which has just been restored.

I really enjoyed this route. There's lots of water along the way. There's even a small waterfall.
I had a bit of trouble finding the path in the forest. I was glad to have GPS to help me.
Thank you for this lovely route.

Hello
I did this hike on 20 November 2022.
All the previous comments are correct; the IGN map is indeed inaccurate, but there is no possibility of getting lost until you reach the forest entrance.
On the descent into the forest, the trail is much less well marked and the yellow markings are not always visible.
However, and this is important, it should be noted that the section of trail between markers 159 and 152 is officially closed according to the list of closed trails compiled by the department.
See the department's website: https://www.departement06.fr/reconstruct...
I did not see any danger in the forest, perhaps because of the risk of falling trees following Storm Alex?
On the other hand, there were no signs of closure or prohibition, either at the start of Rimplas or at the start of La Bolline Valdeblore.
However, I decided not to take a group there.
I also contacted the Rimplas town hall and am awaiting their response.

A beautiful hike with unusual views of the Tinée Valley and Val de Blore. A wide variety of landscapes and sites are encountered: high-altitude hamlets where cows graze, red rock terrain (pelite), pine and fir forests, and countryside with fruit trees in bloom at this time of year. Above, there is still snow on the Peïpori and Pétoumier mountains and opposite, on the Caïre Gros. A really beautiful circular route that seems to be little frequented.
The Visorando guidebook is perfect, with no risk of getting lost (good climb between points 1 and 4!). The yellow markings are also reliable. However, the IGN map is completely wrong between points 4 and 7, which is completely incomprehensible.
The route took 6 hours (but the elevation gain given by Géoportail seems a little higher).
I recommend a visit to the village of Rimplas, which is beautifully decorated and full of flowers.

A very beautiful walk taken at the end of November.
At point No. 5, at the fork, turn right to descend into the forest. Very few yellow markings are visible and, with the fallen leaves, it is not easy to spot the path.
