Around Saint-Loup

Park in the large car park, below the Salle des Fêtes.

(S/E) Turn right at the bottom of the Salle des Fêtes, then immediately right again to go up the Vieille Route. Stay on this road until you reach the hamlet of Le Nové, without going through it.

(1) Turn left, then head down the Chemin du Nové to the D31.

(2) Cross with care and continue straight ahead along the small path opposite.

(3) Make a quick detour to the Chapelle de Vindry on the right, then continue on your way through Vindry. Cross the D31E1 with care, continue straight ahead, then follow the football pitch and reach a fork.

(4) Take the Chemin des Étangs, which descends to the left, and continue along the ponds until you reach a road again.

(5) Turn left and head back up the road. At Relisse, veer right onto the Chemin des Flaches and pass the dog trainer.

(6) Turn onto the path on the right, then follow it until you reach Robertin’s farm. Go round another farm on the left to rejoin the road and turn left. At the junction with the next road, turn left again.

(7) At this junction (marked by a cross), turn right, then keep going straight along the road until you return to the main road.

(8) Follow this road to the left for about ten metres, then turn immediately right. Walk up to the church in the village. At the church, turn right and walk up the road.

(9) Turn right onto Chemin du Creux, then follow it to the Madone de Dareizé. Go up the road to the left, then keep left again.

(10) At this crossroads by the farm, turn left then head up Chemin du Crêt du Pay. Continue downhill until you reach the junction with Chemin des Troënes.

(11) Turn right onto Chemin de la Madone (this time to Saint-Loup) / Chemin des Troënes. Continue until you descend back to Saint-Loup. Then, at the bottom, at the junction with Vieille Route, turn left to return, via the reverse route of the outward journey, to the Salle des Fêtes (S/E).

(3) The Chapel of Vindry

Built in the 17th century with funds from Ysabeau de Sugny on the site of a church dedicated to Saint Lawrence and likely destroyed during the Wars of the League at the end of the 16th century, it became, in 1643, Notre-Dame des Grâces, perhaps following a vow made in response to the plague epidemic or in accordance with the wishes of Louis XIII, who had consecrated France to the Virgin Mary in 1638.

Enjoy the peace and quiet as you walk along the path beside the three ponds.

Admire the splendid view from the top of the ridges and at the Madone de Saint-Loup.
