Hike punctuated by beautiful views, following the route of ancient rutted tracks. Passage at the Pierre Énon.

This easy hike is best enjoyed in spring and autumn if you want to make the most of the second part, which is also the most beautiful: the waterfall and stream. It's guaranteed to be cool in summer, even with just a trickle of water. Amazon rainforest atmosphere before the waterfall. Moderator update on 24/09/2020: Please note! Change of route at the end of the trail, after the waterfall. To return to the car park, follow the diversion and the yellow markings.

Discover Oliferne Castle via the ridge paths. Forget the wide, uninteresting track and enjoy the pleasant paths and panoramic views, where it is practically impossible to go wrong if you follow the yellow markings. Please note: some areas require extra attention when walking with children.

Interesting viewpoint offering views of the Ain valley (Vouglans Dam, the Haut Jura mountain range and Mont Blanc in good weather). The ruins of Oliferne Castle are now of considerable interest following restoration work carried out by volunteers.

I suggest a short hike (about 1 hour) from Chancia to the small summit of Molard de Netru (491 m). There are some beautiful views to discover.

From Chancia, I suggest you return to Montcusel via a pretty loop trail: first, you follow the Bienne River at a distance, then you climb a few hills with beautiful views, especially towards Lac de Coiselet.

The village of Chancia, dating back to Roman times, stretches lazily along the lake formed by the junction of the Bienne and Ain rivers and the Coiselet reservoir. Here, everything encourages relaxation. On this route through the hills above Chancia, you will be enchanted by this little corner of paradise.

I suggest a route that is almost a loop, with some beautiful views, to reach the Pic d'Oliferne from Lac de Coiselet (Condes). There are no major difficulties to encounter. At most, there are a few passages that require caution if the ground is slippery (see below).

The aim of the hike is to complete a circular route overlooking the village of Dortan and Lake Coiselet. There are many beautiful viewpoints along the way.

This hike begins with a steep climb, rewarded by numerous panoramic views of Lake Coiselet. It continues along a pleasant ridge with beautiful views and ends with a visit to the ruins of the medieval castle of Oliferne, which offers a 360° view, before descending back to the starting point.

The view from the viewpoint is always impressive. On this route, you will overlook the beautiful landscapes of Lake Vouglans, observe its changing colours and contemplate its wooded shores, remarkably preserved from any unsightly urban development.

A circular route starting from Martigna and passing by four viewpoints overlooking the lakes of Chanon and Vouglans. From the top of the cliffs, the viewpoints invite us to contemplate the lush greenery and the reflection or sunset on these lakes.

Starting from the workers' village of Dortan, this walk takes you through the Bois de Chatelard forest to the Pierre-qui-Vire and its rocky promontory overlooking Lac de Coiselet. Then, in the intimacy of a rocky cirque at the end of a shady valley, you will discover the waterfall of the Ruisseau de Maissiat, which has been building a pyramid of tufa for thousands of years.

Under the pine trees, immerse yourself in a Mediterranean atmosphere and marvel at the turquoise waters of Lake Vouglans stretching as far as the eye can see. Let the grains of sand covering the beaches caress your skin. The only thing missing from this picture is the taste of salt on your lips to make you believe in this unlikely little sea in the mountains. This easy walk from the port of La Mercantine will take you to Maisod Castle and along Lake Vouglans

The view from the lookout point is always impressive. Along this trail, you will overlook the beautiful landscapes of Lake Vouglans, observe its colourful surroundings and contemplate its wooded shores, remarkably preserved from unsightly urban development. This route is also suitable for trail runners.

An easy hike around Villards-d'Héria with superb views of Lake Antre, the town of Moirans-en-Montagne and Lake Vouglans.Please note that access is currently prohibited: following a landslide, access to the Lac d'Antre viewpoint is prohibited until further notice. From point (2), go directly to point (4). Please note: there has been a forest fire between points (4) and (7) since 17/08/2025 at 7 p.m. Do not attempt this route

Welcome to the imaginary land of South Jura. On this 7 Tales on a Walk trail, take a short storytelling walk with your family and immerse yourself in the story of the lost mermaid. The starting point is marked by an entrance gate (in the form of a giant book), on which is written the type of object you will have to look for and follow throughout the walk. Step through this door to enter a world full of mystery.

Walk in the forest with a view of Lake Antre and the Jura Mountains

From Matefelon-Granges, I suggest you take a 11 km circular trail through the Ain Valley, then the Oignin Valley. Along the way, you will enjoy views of Thoire, the Château de Coiselet (private), the Saut de l'Oignin waterfall and its potholes, and finally the lake upstream.

On either side of the Pont de la Pyle bridge, there are so many beautiful things to see, do and discover! One side takes you along a long, quiet path through the woods, running alongside the lake, with viewpoints and picnic areas. The other side, which is more touristy, takes you to the ruins of a castle, caves, viewpoints, and a leisure area with a harbour and a beach. In short, everything you need for a great day out! A beautiful route for trail running enthusiasts.

A pleasant, easy circular walk, mainly through woodland. The charming church of Saint-Maurice-d'Échazeaux (or des Chasaux), which overlooks the confluence of the Valouse and Ain rivers, and the ruins of Montdidier Castle are worth exploring.

Discover the splendour of France's third largest reservoir with its turquoise blue waters. In this magnificent setting, walk between forests and steep cliffs with superb views of the lake.

A very pleasant circular route along Lake Vouglans with views of the Pont de la Pyle bridge. A long ribbon winding between wooded hills, Lake Vouglans is 35 km long. Located in the heart of the Jura, it is one of the region's aquatic gems and one of the best-preserved large lakes in France. There are no roads running alongside it, and a few beaches and ports are widely open to visitors. The paths are very well marked. Discover the ruins of the Château de la Tour de Meix.

Il est proposé un parcours en boucle un peu sportif, dont la finalité est de rejoindre à partir d'Oyonnax la Prairie d'Echallon, puis de revenir via le Lac Sous les Mousses (et à proximité du lac de Viry) puis le Mont de la Chaux et la Pointe de Biez.

The aim of this hike is to take you to Lac Genin from the centre of Oyonnax. The route is mainly a loop. Once you arrive at the lake, you are free to spend as much time there as you like.

This beautiful, mostly shaded route offers views of several waterfalls, each as pretty as the next, as well as a cave open on the side of a cliff with a spring flowing from it. The vegetation is very diverse and you can see the tireless work of water on the rock.

A lovely loop on the first slopes of the Jura massif, above the Bresse plain (Revermont). A largely forested route, with viewpoints and panoramas, typical villages, monuments and heritage sites.

Descending from the nearby Jura mountains, the Suran has a peaceful valley where water flows abundantly. It has a very active underground course between Chavannes and downstream from Meyriat. The Suran can disappear for much of the year. This route, which runs alongside much of this watercourse, starts on a quiet tarmac road and then, from the hamlet of Corcelles, continues on unpaved paths or through the woods. The route is marked in yellow.

An easy hike for the whole family, where the vegetation changes from deciduous trees to pines, firs, Scots pines and boxwood. You can also walk along a stream, enter a cave and enjoy three waterfalls.

A short hike to discover a lesser-known but no less beautiful Jura valley. The loop starts behind the church in Gizia, a small village where the Gizia river has its source. Then a fairly steep but generally shaded climb leads to the village of Le Chanelet, at the top of the 220m high cliff. The Belvédère de Chanelet offers a breathtaking view of the Bresse and Mâconnais regions.
