The starting point is located 5 km from Arinthod, towards Orgelet. Turn left twice at the Chatonnay sign and you will arrive at a well-equipped car park.
(S/E) Cross the bridge and climb for about 200 m.
(1) Turn right and follow the yellow signs to the small village of Dramelay. The actual route does not always coincide with the purple line on the 1:25,000 IGN map. You will arrive on a paved road.
(2) From here, you can already see the famous tower perched on the hill to the right and west. Take the road on the left.
(3) In the hamlet, turn right onto a paved road that descends. You are now on a white path, theGR®9(red and white markings), with a pretty fountain and a wash house on your right. Leave a path on your right and continue to the next intersection.
(4) Continue straight ahead on the path heading south-east.
(5) 1.2 km further on, in a large 180° bend, start the final climb that leads to the Tour de Dramelay.
(6) After visiting the site, head north-northeast, following the signs for Quinquenouille. Pass a chapel, ignore several paths on the left, then take a sharp left turn to reach a small bridge.
(7) Cross the bridge, follow the paved road to the right for about 100 metres, then turn left to reach the left bank of the small Dard stream. Take a short detour to admire the Roman bridge of La Pie du Dard. Follow the stream, then turn right to cross it, admiring the Roman bridge of La Pie du Dard as you go. Then go down the steps to reach the foot of the magnificent Quinquenouille waterfall.
(8) Take care when descending the steps leading to the bottom of the waterfall as they are very slippery in wet weather.
Change of route at the end of the trail: after the waterfall, retrace your steps to return to the car park, follow the diversion and the yellow markings.
