Description of the walk

Park at car park P1 at Beauport Abbey, in Kérity.

(S/E) Leave the car park on the right, heading towards the abbey. Shortly afterwards, turn left and go round the abbey on the right. Head down towards the sea wall.

(1) Turn left onto the sea wall. Keep to the left and follow a sandy path towards Poulafret.

(2) At the junction, carry on straight ahead, passing a campsite on your left. At the next junction, carry on straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn right and head for the shore. Then follow the GR®34 to the left (red and white markings).

(3) At the entrance to the Poulafret leisure centre, go round the lake on the right following the GR®. This will take you to the old Poulafret tide mill.

(4) Turn right onto a small road. After about 150 m, leave this road and follow the coastal path to the right, walking along Keirdreiz beach, still following the GR®.

(5) At the fork in the road at the far end of the beach, continue to the right (east) along the coastal path and the GR® towards Pointe de Guilben (superb view of the entrance to Paimpol Bay). Further on, ignore a path on the left leading to a car park and reach a junction just before the tip of the headland.

(6) Walk round the tip of the headland anti-clockwise. On the northern part of this loop, take a short detour to the left to reach the top of the hill (former customs officer’s hut). Return to the coastal path and head back to the previous junction.

(6) Then turn off to the right. Shortly afterwards, the path veers away from the coast following a landslide (follow the red and white GR® markings; note that the purple route on the 1:25,000 map has not been updated). Leave the car park on your left and follow a wide grassy path. You’ll come out onto a small road (blockhouse) and follow it to the right past some houses.

(7) When the road bends to the left, turn right and head downhill to rejoin the coastal path (still the GR®). Pass Pointe Brividic and continue until you’re walking alongside Tossen beach below.

(8) After the house on the left at the end of the beach, turn left into Rue Hent Crec’h Derrien.
Carry on straight ahead, ignoring a road on the right and then one on the left.

(9) At the end, turn left onto Chemin de Guilben. Pass the entrance to the hamlet of Guilben on your left and take thefirst path on the right, called Gardenn Kerdreiz. Head downhill until you reach a junction you passed on the way out.

(5) Turn right and walk alongside the leisure centre on your right. Follow the route back in the opposite direction to the tide mill.

(4) Continue straight on along Chemin Jacques Quélen, keeping the lake on your left.

(3) Follow the same route as on the way there, but in the opposite direction, towards the abbey. Walk alongside the campsite on your right.

(2) At the corner of the campsite, turn right onto a wide path running alongside a high wall. This will take you directly to the car park (S/E).

A really lovely route that’s accessible all year round.
It’s a bit steep around the Pointe de Guilben, but nothing too difficult and absolutely stunning 🤩

Very beautiful and varied sites. Trails are very easy to navigate with beautiful weather, which was the case on the day of our hike. Few sections on roads.
The start at the abbey is very interesting for the view from the outside. A visit to the site is a must, ideally as part of a guided tour.

Occasionally, you may encounter the fifteen or so grey geese that remain in the meadows below the abbey or near Poulaffret. This was the case during our hike, and among them was a beautiful Canada goose.

We did this hike at the end of December, and the trail is great in winter because there was hardly any mud. It's easy to follow and the views are magnificent. We recommend taking the time to visit Beauport Abbey at the end of the trail! We didn't see many people during this winter period, which was perfect!

Very beautiful route. Easy (flat). If you prefer to see the Beauport and Paimpol coves at high tide, check the tide times, otherwise they will be empty (which is also beautiful but different).
