Starting point: Paimpol station. Parking is available in the station car park (though it can be difficult on Tuesday mornings due to the weekly market).
(S/E) With your back to the station, turn left onto Avenue du Général de Gaulle. At the roundabout, carry straight on onto Avenue de Guerland (path on the right-hand side).
(1) After about 1.2 km, you’ll come to a tall, circular concrete wall: enter this first concrete basin. You are now standing on the site of a German battery from the Second World War. Cross the first basin and enter a second, identical basin.
(2) Join a tarmac road (Hent Feunten Wern) and follow it to the right towards a housing estate. Turn left onto the Chemin de Kerjiquel towards the village of Plounez (church tower in sight). At the T-junction, turn left.
(3) At the entrance to the village, turn left past the church and head towards the road known as Chemin de Landouezec. Continue straight on (west) and ignore the side tracks.
(4) Go under the D 786 bridge and follow the Chemin de Poul Ranet.
(5) Head towards the level crossing, cross the railway line and follow the Chemin de Kerbiguet for 400 m. At the junction (marker 17), turn right onto a path leading to Pont Erwan beach, passing under the railway line.
(6) Enter the foreshore area, turn left and walk along the beach on your right-hand side. Please note that at spring tides, some sections may be impassable.
(7) At Lancerf station, cross the railway line at the level crossing. Immediately turn right onto Route de la Gare, which climbs up to the Marcel Cachin roundabout.
(8) Then turn left twice to reach the Lancerf Chapel.
(9) Return to the roundabout.
(8) Then turn left and follow the road to the entrance to the woods.
(10) Enter the Lancerf Penhoat woodland (there is a sign at the entrance to the woodland indicating walking times).
(11) At the junction, turn right and head downhill. Walk alongside the railway line, which lies below on the right.
(12) Pass under the railway line, leaving the Manoir de Traou Nez on your right. At the Fork in the road, take the left-hand path towards Coat Ermit. At the end, turn left and pass under the railway line again.
(13) Turn immediately right and continue along a path on the hillside overlooking the railway line on your right.
(14) At the crossroads, head down to the right towards Coat Ermit. Enjoy the view of La Roche Jagu Castle. Retrace your steps.
(14) Take the hillside path on the right again. Pass close to a small, isolated house (Kerdruc). Continue to the next junction. Then turn right onto a path leading downhill. Pass a few houses, come out onto a road and follow it to the right. Walk straight down. Just before Leff, turn right directly onto the platform at Frynaudour station
(E) Return to Paimpol by TER (wave to the driver to ask if you can board).
