Circular Pors Even in Ploubazlanec

This hike is worth doing in any season, given the rich heritage you will encounter. It is even better in spring and summer when the coastline is particularly flowery (agapanthus, hydrangeas, etc.).

Description of the walk

Park in the small car park in the Kerpalud area, next to the shipyard (GPS coordinates N 48787365°/W 3.046964°).

(S/E) Turn right onto theGR®®34trail at the end of the car park and walk along the shore to the lodge called "Les Pieds dans l'Eau".

(1) Turn left onto the uphill tarmac road and take the first path on the right. At the end of the path, turn left onto the uphill tarmac road and continue to the small car park.
Follow the signs to reach the foot of the Kerroc'h Tower.

(2) At the foot of the tower, take a fairly steep path with steps to join theGR®® 34. Follow it along a tarmac road to the Croix Cornic: a calvary with a distinctive triangular base.

(3) Keep to the right and continue along the road called Rue de Kerroc'h, ignoring the adjacent paths. This road climbs past a row of houses on the left. Turn right and continue along Rue de Toul Broc'h until you reach the junction with theGR®® 34.

(4) Turn right onto a narrow path and continue along the coastline. Soon, the small port of Porz Even will come into view.

(5) Before reaching the harbour car park, turn left, still following theGR®® 34, into Impasse de la Chapelle de la Trinité and continue along the coastal path to the Chapelle de la Trinité, located opposite Île Saint-Riom.

(6) Near the chapel porch, take the path opposite (80 metres) leading to Pointe de la Trinité, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Île Saint Riom and Launay Bay. Return to the chapel and take the steep path on the left, consisting of steps, to reach the grassy top of the hill where La Croix des Veuves (Widows' Cross) stands, a legendary spot in the commune where fishermen's wives used to watch for the return of the schooners from Iceland.

(7) Continue along Rue de la Croix des Veuves, pass a more recent calvary and, after 400 metres, turn onto Rue du Rance. Turn right, ignore Impasse du Puits, then immediately take Rue Pierre Loti and follow it, turning left towards the Chapelle de Perros Hamon with its porch covered with ex-votos dedicated to the history of fishing in Iceland.

(8) After the small car park at the chapel, turn left onto Rue des Pêcheurs d'Islande and continue to the end.

(9) Take a downhill path called Chemin de Kergaud and follow theGR®® 34, without going via the Tour de Kerroc'h, to return to the starting car park (S/E).

- View of Saint Riom Island
- The Trinity Chapel.

- The Pointe de la Trinité

A beautiful hike that we would have preferred to do at high tide. A short detour through the village of Ploubazlanec with a stop at a crêperie and a visit to the memorial wall for those lost at sea.

A beautiful hike with few difficulties. Just a few climbs that were a little challenging for our untrained calves.
We made a detour to the Ploubazlanec cemetery to see the moving memorial wall dedicated to those lost at sea. The circuit was extended by about 1.5 km, between points 8 and 3 on the way back, without passing through point 9.

A very good hike to do at low tide to see the details and contours of the coastline. Between points 2 and 3, head down towards Pointe de Porz Don via the beach and go to the little restaurant to taste some oysters (currently closed), but we were able to have a picnic on the terrace. We also extended our hike to the village of Ploubazlanec, to the cemetery where there is a wall dedicated to those lost at sea.
