A lovely walk that took us through the village of Châteauneuf, where we had a picnic on a terrace opposite a small shop and exhibition space: we sampled the local beer and finished with a quick coffee – a really pleasant chat with the person who lives there all year round and volunteers to organise small village festivals.

The first part of the walk, from the start to the village of Châteauneuf-de-Mazenc, isn’t very interesting; it’s a route with a few detours through flat farmland, in full sun, which isn’t very pleasant in summer. However, the second part is magnificent: a walk through the medieval village with sweeping views, a hilly and more shaded route, beautiful views of the Souspierre rocks, and plenty of lavender fields.

A brilliant morning ride without too much trouble. The scenery is magnificent, and the stretch through the village of Châteauneuf-de-Mazenc is superb!
