Description of the route

Departure from the square in the centre of the village of Poët-Laval.
Mountain bike signposting no. 3.

(S/E) From the village square, take the D540 towards Dieulefit for 450m: watch out for cars!

(1) Turn right onto a small side road and cross the Jabron.

(2) At the crossroads, turn right onto a track that runs alongside the River Jabron for 1km, with a view of the lavender fields.

(3) Follow a small, picturesque road along the left bank of the Jabron.

(4) At the Gougne stone bridge, continue left, climbing slightly into the undergrowth as far as "Molans".

(5) Turn right onto a track that slopes downwards at first and then rises until it forks.

(6) Go left up a stony track that descends to a ford. At the fork, turn right.

(7) Turn right onto a track suitable for vehicles and climb steeply for 230m: the main difficulty of the route.

(6) Find the path you took on the outward journey and follow it to the Gougne stone bridge.

(4) Take the bridge and follow the signs, turning left to avoid the one-way street.

(8) Join the D540, turn right for 300m: watch out for cars! Turn right into the village square (S/E).

A great route for a first cycling experience with little ones.

Be careful, though, as section 6 is a "big" pebble track, not an easy descent for the little ones, as their bikes don't handle pebbles very well.
I did it with my daughters, aged 6 and 10, who don't cycle much, but we did the loop backwards.

At point 6 we went straight on and turned left at point 7.
As a result, we had a good walk up the big rocks (with our bikes on top of mine) and then did the rest of the route downhill.

It was really nice, with the cover of the trees keeping us cool.
