Towards Cousson from Entrages

A pleasant hike. Departure from the pretty village of Entrages. The chapel on its spur is a must-see. At the summit of Cousson, there is a beautiful 360° panorama.

Description of the walk

From Digne, head to the village of Entrages. Climb up to the church and you will immediately find the Salle des Fêtes car park.

(S/E) Take theGR® towards Pas d'Entrages. The path climbs gently to the pass.

(1) Turn left. The trail is now marked in yellow. Continue on a fairly steep climb to reach a crossroads.

(2) Keep to the right and continue to the Chapel of Saint-Michel de Cousson. Enjoy the magnificent surroundings, then finish the climb to reach the Cousson marker.

(3) Descend to the right. At the Les Estournons signpost, continue to the right to reach the crossroads below the Sommet du Cousson.

(4) Here, you can climb to the summit by turning right. Otherwise, continue left, passing by the wooden sculptures. You will then reach an oratory.

(5) Continue on thePR® to reach the Hautes Bâties de Cousson crossroads and rejoin theGR® here.

(6) Take it to the right, slightly downhill, to reach the Ravin de Richelme marker.

(7) Begin another climb to reach the highest point, at the Pas d'Entrages crossroads you passed on the way there.

(1) Then retrace your steps to return to the car park at the Salle des Fêtes d'Entrages (S/E).

The climb up to St Michel’s Chapel is quite steep. A lovely circular route, often shaded, with stunning scenery and breathtaking views.

A great classic in Digne!
At the end of October, on a day when it rained until 1 p.m., there was indeed no one there, but in summer it is a little busier.
The hike is very pleasant, with the highlights being St Michel Chapel and the two peaks. It's fairly easy to climb to the actual summit, but then if you want to return to the path that descends towards Les Hautes Bâties, you have to go down a small, sometimes steep path that is best avoided in rainy weather! The mud is slippery..

A beautiful loop, often shaded, in stunning scenery with a magnificent view from the St Michel de Cousson chapel, which alone is worth the climb (a fairly steep climb)

A few details:
- The chapel has been renovated. Give a thought to those who transported the materials for its restoration and plan a break to soak up the scenery!
- The Cousson beacon (3) offers a magnificent 360° view, but the descent is very steep and probably problematic in wet weather: bring walking sticks.
- "Hautes bâties de Cousson" (6) Junction with the GR coming from Digne and, above all, a beautiful, very fresh spring (and drinkable... I tested it)
- Ascent (7) after the Richelme ravine: the heavily eroded path has become impassable in places: take the detours.

A beautiful hike with views on all sides. I recommend climbing to the northern peak of the cushion and descending behind the antenna. There is a path and the view is worth it. There were fewer people on this peak, which is 4 metres higher.

A very beautiful, moderately difficult hike on a fairly busy trail, with no particular difficulties and what a view when you reach the summit!

Very beautiful hike. We continued on to thesecond summit (30 min round trip) from Pas de Boudillon (4). I highly recommend it! It's the northern summit, where the view is even more beautiful than from the southern summit (3). We met two other people (it was a quiet time for hiking). Thank you for the suggestion.

Beautiful 360° views and an intriguing chapel on the edge of the cliff. The route is well signposted.
