Description of the route

Park in the Eco-Velo parking lot, the starting point for this route, on Rue Jean Jaurès in Ferrière-la-Grande.

(S/E) Leave the car park, turn right onto Rue Jean Jaurès and at the roundabout, turn right onto Rue Pierre François Dumont. Ignore a street on the right and at Square de la Paix, keep left. Ignore all adjacent streets and you will arrive at a crossroad (Chemin Blanc Rieux),GRP®® Tour de l'Avesnois.

(1) Continue left until the next crossroads.

(2) Turn right (Avenue Clémenceau), continue for about 1 km and note the start of Chemin Noir on the left.

(3) Take this path, ignore Impasse le Village on your right, turn right onto Rue de Rousies and continue straight ahead until you reach the four-way junction.

(4) Continue straight ahead on Rue d'Ostergnie, cross Rue du Bois and join Rue du Fort.

(5) Turn left onto the street and onto theGRP®® Tour de l'Avesnois. Cross a strip of forest (Bois Planté) and then follow the edge on your left. The track then turns right, pass under two high-voltage power lines and continue to the next road at the bottom of the valley.

(6) Turn left and, in the hamlet of Ostergnies, continue to the right. Pass in front of the church and follow the road to a Y-junction.

(7) Take Chemin Romantique on the left and, at the end of it, turn right to reach a multiple crossroads (elevation 185). Continue left to the four-way crossroads.

(8) Cross the departmental road and continue along the path opposite (GRP®®) with the blockhouse on your left. Follow this path until you reach a three-way junction at the bottom of the slope (elevation 169).

(9) Keep right towards La Biscotterie and La Hayette and join a cross road (Route de Jeumont).

(10) Turn left and at the four-way crossroads, continue straight ahead towards Pâture Bailly.

(11) At the edge of the woods, follow the path on the right and continue straight ahead. Cross a small wood and continue along the road until you come to a fork with two paths leading in opposite directions (elevation 202).

(12) Turn onto the path on the right, cross a road (Route de Solre-le-Château, elevation 187) and continue straight ahead. Then continue along a small road and join the four-way crossroads at Bois de Wachu.

(13) Continue straight ahead, pass a blockhouse and, at the oratory, ignore the turn-off to the left. Cross the residential area of Cayaut and continue straight ahead to the town hall and church of Colleret.

(14) Continue straight ahead on Rue Jean Dequesnes until you reach a four-way intersection.

(15) Turn left onto Rue de la République, ignore a street on the left and, at the next crossroads, carefully cross the departmental road (D936). Continue straight ahead on Rue Lebrun Malderez towards the stadium, leave the village and reach the next crossroads (elevation 187).

(16) Turn right onto Chemin Latéral, which runs alongside the old railway line. At the isolated Marronniers farm.

(17) Follow the path from Maubeuge to Quiévelon on the right, then right again to pass under a high-voltage power line further on, until you reach the crossroads (D936), cross Cerfontaine. Turn left and proceed with caution, following the same route as on the way there, to reach the Relais Eco-Vélo (S/E).
