Description of the walk

Parking at the Monieux lake

(S/E) Walk along the lake towards the refreshment bar, cross the small bridge over the Nesque and turn right onto the marked trail towards Saint-Hubert. Follow it to the first fork on the left 600 metres further on, at the entrance to the Vallon de Peissonnier.

(1) Take the path that climbs to the left into the valley until you come to a path 1.4 km further on.

(2) Take this path to the right, pass a high point at around 765 m, then descend to a trailhead on the left (altitude 740 m).

(3) Leave the path and follow this trail to the left for 1.2 km until you come to a path near horse paddocks.

(4) Take this path on the right. Note: this path is communal, but as it passes under the windows of Géneris, it is best to go around this house. Therefore, take the small grassy track on the left just before you reach Géneris (there is a boxwood ball at the intersection). Pass a hunting post. Continue on this track, which becomes a path, until you reach the D5 road.

(5) Turn right. 40 metres further on, just before a right-hand bend, take the path that descends to the right. After 450 metres, you will rejoin the communal track from Géneris.

(6) Take the hairpin bend to the left. Turn right at the next hairpin bend. Go down this small grassy track, then along a path until you reach the signposted Gorges de la Nesque trail.

(7) Turn right and follow this marked trail. You will arrive at the signpost for "Font de Jean".

(8) Continue straight ahead on the marked trail and return to the initial fork.

(1) Continue straight ahead, in the opposite direction to the outward journey, until you reach the Monieux lake (S/E).

In response to the notice dated 28 September 2025, I would like to provide the following details.
According to the land registry, this route runs entirely along municipal roads, except between waypoints 4 and 6.
Between these waypoints, it passes through plots belonging to the owner of Géneris, but it does not pass through any plots belonging to the owner of Font de Jean.

We did this route on 28 September 2025, taking it in reverse, so we turned left at point 7 to follow the described route. This hike is of absolutely no interest unless you enjoy peace and quiet and pretty box trees. We were surprised when we arrived at point 3 (above Font de Jean) to meet a couple who owned the land we had just crossed from point 3 to point 7. this land is private and the owners have never given permission for anyone to cross their property. We had a cordial conversation, but we think it would be advisable for the author of this hike to contact the owners of the "Fontaine de Jean" as soon as possible. Or else remove this hike.
