Balcony paths to the west of the Monieux lake

Parking at the Monieux lake.

(S/E) Head towards the lake's refreshment area. Just after passing the playground, turn right up the slope to the west, first off-piste, then following the tracks of an old path.

(1) Cross the Route de la Nesque and continue left along a path overlooking the road. Join the road at a bend where you can park.

(2) Take a path that climbs steeply to the right. 15 m further up, turn left onto a balcony path winding its way over rocks between box and juniper trees. Pass over terraces and through oak woods. Almost 1.5 km further on, you come across a small track.

(3) Follow it to the right and, at the next junction, take the balcony path to the right, following the GRP® Massif du Ventoux signs.

(4) Pass by some old drystone shelters. On this path, gain a hundred metres in altitude and reach a crossroads (alt. 865 m).

(5) Continue along the GRP® to the right and descend towards Monieux (panoramic views over the Nesque valley).

(6) As you approach Monieux, follow the balcony path (GRP®) straight ahead. Enter Monieux and join the Rue de la Bourgade at the Meunier gate.

(7) Leave the GRP®. Take this street to the right. Cross the Route de la Nesque at la Palud (hill 652) and go down the Chemin du Plan d'Eau to the car park (S/E).

The route begins on paths that are not well marked. GPS is recommended to avoid getting lost.
There are a few steep sections with high steps along the way.
