From Monieux, take the D96, then the D5 towards Saint-Hubert. Pass the Saint-Hubert viewpoint. Continue for another kilometre, pass the Chemin de Malaval on the right (signposted "Campagne de Malaval") and park shortly afterwards at the right-hand bend above a valley. It is possible to park outside the bend, just after the valley.
(S/E) Return towards Monieux and, inside the bend, after the retaining wall of the road, take a path on the left that descends into the valley. Follow this path to the bottom of the valley, crossing the Chemin de Malaval almost immediately, then passing under a power line. Pass close to the Chemin de Malaval on your left and come out at a crossroads a few metres away.
(1) Ignore the path ahead, which will be the return route, and descend to the left over the stones to continue to the bottom of the steep-sided valley. You will come to a junction of tracks. Take the wide grassy track opposite, at the bottom of the valley. Leave it 150 m further on for a path that climbs to the left. Once you can see the Malaval farm, go around it on the right and continue on the path along the hillside. Continue downhill, on the right-hand edge of a meadow, until you reach a good GR® de Pays Massif du Ventoux signposted path.
(2) Take this path to the right and follow it downhill into the Vallat de Saume Morte until it begins to climb again at a trail junction. Leave this trail and take the path on the left, which enters the Vallat de Saume Morte. You will come to a trail junction (blue sign on the right).
(3) Take the path opposite, which continues downhill into the valley until you reach a viewpoint offering magnificent views of the cliffs of the Nesque Gorges.
(4) Return to the previous fork.
(3) Take the path on the left that climbs (panoramic view of the Rocher du Cire with Mont Ventoux in the background), then descends slightly above the Gorges de la Nesque. At the next fork, follow the path on the right (blue dot) that climbs into the Vallat de Peisse and joins another path further on.
(5) Take this path to the right, which quickly becomes a small track. This track was used to transport equipment used in archaeological excavations. A little further on, leave this track and take a path on the left (blue dot) which climbs above the Gorges de la Nesque to a passage above the cliff (be careful), before reaching a fork in the paths. Turn right and follow this GRP®-marked trail along a ridge until you reach the signpost for "La Peisse".
(6) Turn right onto the GRP® trail towards Champ de Sicaude. At the next crossroads, join a small track. After a climb, pass the crossroads above a field (view of the Rocher du Cire and Mont Ventoux) and continue straight ahead for about 70 metres. Leave the GRP® which descends to the right onto a path, continue straight ahead for a few metres on the track and look for a path in the undergrowth. Follow this path along the hillside until you reach a first hollow.
(7) Continue to the right, then take the path on the left a few dozen metres further on. Continue along the hillside until you reach the second valley and the intersection of paths you came across on the way there.
(1) A few metres further on, follow the path opposite that climbs up the bottom of the valley to rejoin the route taken on the way there and return to the starting point (S/E).
