Description of the walk

Park in the Montana district at the “Gémaux” car park.

(S/E) Turn right at the roundabout towards Beaulieu. Take the Route du Puy de Roche on the right and climb for about a hundred metres.

(1) Turn left onto a path leading into the woods and continue uphill until you reach a tarmac road. Continue straight on until you reach a junction near a shed.

(2) Go straight on along a tarmac track and continue to the hamlet of La Gloire. The road leads onto another track through woodland. Continue to a four-way crossroads.

(3) Take the right-hand path, which joins the D94.

(4) Cross it and continue straight on along the road towards “La Morguie”. Head down to La Vésine.

(5) Before the access road to Château de la Morguie, turn right, following the castle wall, and continue for about 300m until you reach a crossroads with a path.

(6) Take this path, heading down to the right. Continue by following the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle signposts in the opposite direction and follow the path downwards, leaving the Combes de Mialet on your left.

(7) Cross the tarmac road and head down to the left to rejoin the Puy de Roche road.

(8) Turn left onto it to reach the junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Continue straight on and retrace your steps to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

It's a shame there aren't any signposts; we had to turn back twice

Same comment as for Path 1.9.
You can’t find the start without a GPS. The route is pleasant.

A very beautiful trail, but challenging rather than ‘easy’ – there are sections blocked by trees and others where you have to cross the river on planks. Very interesting, but a bit tricky with children

The route is interesting for its varied views of Tulle, Chameyrat-le-Vieux, Les Monédières, etc...
Signposting is virtually non-existent for the first quarter of the walk due to a tree-felling operation; you have to search amongst the piles of branches to find the right path. Signposting reappears from Mialet onwards. It is safer to use a GPS.

A lovely route through the woods, with muddy paths following the rain

The first path on the left isn’t easy to spot (due to parked cars), but the rest of the route is very pleasant. A lovely walk
