Around Laguenne

A short walk through the woods around Laguenne, 5 minutes from Tulle. It begins with a long climb, partly on road, but ends in the woods and along the River Saint-Bonnette. Best enjoyed in summer as it is entirely in the shade of the woodland.

Description of the walk

From Tulle, head towards Laguenne and Argentat. In Laguenne, park at a place called La Gare, on your left.

(S/E) Return to the D1120 and turn left up Rue de la Chaussade, following the sign for Boubeau. Continue up this small road, passing two hairpin bends.

(1) On arriving in Boubeau, before the large cross, take the path that climbs to the right. Follow this wide path, which climbs quite steeply. At a junction, take the path on the left, which climbs less steeply.

(2) At the next junction, before a hairpin bend, turn left, still heading uphill. Pass through an iron gate marking the boundary of Le Clos Delbos, a former vineyard. The path narrows and finally begins to descend. After a long, gentle descent, you’ll reach a Fork in the road.

(3) Take the first path directly to the left and leave the second one below. Follow a wide path through the woodland and you will begin to hear the river below, the Saint-Bonnette.

(4) At the crossroads, turn right, then 100m further on, turn left onto a wide path that runs alongside the river. Walk past the campsite and continue along the river, which comes closer at times. You can do the fitness trail exercises that line the path (in the opposite direction) back to the starting point (S/E).

Very pleasant hike, shaded and along the river at the end. However, the description is sometimes unreliable or difficult to understand and does not correspond to the actual terrain.

A lovely, peaceful walk in the shade with very little of the route on tarmac roads.

A pleasant, shaded route that is well signposted. It starts with an uphill section, followed by a downhill stretch and finishes with a flat section along the stream.

A lovely walk in the shade, with the chance to dip your toes in the water
