The starting point for this hike is in Sankt Anton am Arlberg, at the top station of the Galzibahn Funitel (Vallugabahn I).
See the practical information section for details of the lifts.
Before starting your hike, whether or not you have a Summer Card, we recommend that you climb to the top of Valluga (Valluga II and Valluga III) to make the most of your ski pass and to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Arlberg and beyond.
Climb to the top of Valluga using the three Funitel and cable car sections. Return to VallugaBahn I to begin the hike.
(S) From Vallugabahn I, head west and take the path leading to the St Anton transmitter (Sendeanlage).
(1) Go around the knoll above the transmitter on the west side. Pass under the Saint-Christophbahn cable car, then next to the Tanzbödenbahn. Descend to the junction with path no. 23a.
(2) Turn left onto path no. 23a until you reach a junction on the edge of the small lake.
(3) Turn left and follow the southern part of the reservoir to its western end.
(4) Start climbing towards Ulmer Hütte. Cross a stream and join a track.
(5) Continue left along this fairly steep track until you reach Ulmer Hütte.
(6) Enjoy the panoramic view of the Arlberg. From the Hütte, take a shortcut back to the track. Return to the previous point.
(5) Leave the track and turn left onto path 645. Pass under the Valluga cable car and descend towards the Steißebach stream.
(7) Stay on path 645, cross the Steißebach and continue down the Steißebach valley to a fork.
(8) Still on path 645, turn right. Pass by the Zammermoosbahn. Walk to the Galzibahn funitel cables and look for a path on the left.
(9) Take the path, zigzagging in small switchbacks and return to the Sennhütte.
(10) Turn right, pass through the botanical gardens and reach Dengertstraße. Follow the path.
(11) Turn left onto the narrow path and join Moosenweg. Walk down to the village entrance and enter Alte Arlberstraße.
(12) Follow this road to the left until you reach a roundabout, where you will find the Galzibahn Talstation (E).
