Description of the walk

From Oberstdorf bus station, take bus line 1 towards Baad and get off at the Söllereckbahn stop (gondola lift).
Take a single ticket to Söllereck with the Allgäu-Walser-Card.
The starting point for this hike is at the Söllereckbahn mountain station (Söllereckbahn Bergstation).

(S) From the top station, follow the small road to the first crossroads.

(1) Turn right towards Riezlern. Walk to the Austrian-German border.

(2) Leave Bavaria by passing through the barrier and enter Vorarlberg. On the path, pass the Kapelle Hl. Wendelin chapel. Continue downhill to an intersection.

(3) Turn left, pass a riding centre and continue to a crossroads.

(4) Follow the track, cross the Schmiedebach and, heading west, enter the village of Riezlern. Continue to the main road.

(5) Turn left onto Walserstraße and head towards the Kanzelwand cable car (E)

Hinterstein - Shreksee - Kirchdachsattel - Hinterstein Route starts from Hinterstein parking. We hiked, but it is possible to take the bus to Kraftwerk Auele, where the trailhead begins. It is a difficult trail with steep inclines with loose rocks and water runoff. It is possible to swim in the lake, and the view from the saddle is really nice.
